I think I finally put the coup de grâce on the japanese knotweed around my house. The only thing besides baby metal I loathe from Japan… But I've noticed this white wild flower all over that reminds me of snow. It's everywhere.

      Dead knotweed

I apologize because this is gonna be slightly off-topic. I'm completely drunk and that helps me admire how beautiful everything is even weeds. But I love the crispness of the air, the read and yellow leaves everywhere, and being able to fully enjoy my extra heavy weight clothes. Everything has a richness of color and is so much more comfortable and relaxing than the other months.

First off I took these pictures of my mums for @goosehd I planted the purple one last year and it is still alive.

      These are the new ones.

My vintage Halloween decor is for Stevie @Oaktavia

This wreath is my mom's shit but I love it. And it has a terra cotta owl I bought in Peru.

Even the hydrangea look amazing this time of year

I love being able to be chilly and wear this stuff. I love that the leaves are changing.

And even more beautiful weeds in my driveway.

I forgot this one. I tried to get this red bush in my WAYWT pics earlier

Not sure if allowed so I’ll ask before posting - growing certain things is legal in my state. If I’m allowed to post, I’ll gladly share. If we’d rather avoid, I’ll only show pics of vegetables this spring 🤠

All good gents. That’s why I wanted to ask first. Would rather not get banned for stupidity.

I can share the outdoor garden I’m building as it comes.

Going to start a 4’x8’ bed as groceries have become unsustainable to shop cheaply for how much real food my girl and I go through.
Here’s a rough idea of some of what I’m planning. Other items will be in pots or small boxes so I didn’t include them yet. Still need to decide on some companion plants.

Thanks @goosehd def feel for those who can’t have their own medicine at hand for free but it is what it is.

Hoping others will enjoy once I start posting the new bed up. It will be all organic and I’ll be crafting the soil from scratch since I live in an area with silt/red clay and hard pack.

Local soil places wouldn’t tell me what was in their compost and I don’t risk what I will eventually ingest

Yeah, I went into a highly rated and very expensive butcher in Portsmouth a few years ago and asked if I could order a ham from a specific breed of pig.

Smart man. It’s like buying eggs from the grocer vs fresh from the hen. Yea sure it looks the same, but there is a significant difference in taste and quality.

Our most productive crop here in Seattle in terms of return on investment is garlic. We like garlic and use it a lot, it's quite expensive, and it keeps well. Other plants are fun to grow, but not really a meaningful % of annual consumption. The only issue with garlic is that you need to plan a year in advance.

This was a discussion. We use garlic in most things. I think due to timing I may start some in spring indoor and just let it ride.
Already late to getting my potatoes and onions started bc weather has been bad

My understanding is that garlic benefits from exposure to cold (aka winter) during the early stages, but I'll admit I'm quickly getting out of my depth here. 😉

Avocado season is in full swing around here, just as fall moves out for winter. These 11 beauties plopped down on their own overnight on the lawn. They aren’t ripe yet but it’ll only take them a couple of days before they are ready to eat. I like them in all sorts of meals but I’ll risk saying that on a lightly toasted whole bread for breakfast is probably my favorite way.

I’m very surprised at the range of fruit sizes…all from the same tree. Unusually large size variation. Not sure whether that is caused by the highly irregular rain pattern over the last 6-8 months.

@goosehd we get a very large range of avocado sizes and shapes around here. It is only recently that some avocado farms of industrial characteristics have sprung up. It is these types of farms which grow fruit under a very specific size & shape specs. Most around here are rather mom&pop small farms with a HUGE variances; size, color, shape, etc.
I’ll try to get some pics to show that variation, quite interesting.
