They say go full size down, so that's what I did. I've got pretty standard width feet, so that approach tends to work with me — I'm a 13 Brannock and some 12s in large-running boots of this ilk feel a little tight on me, but everything I've read has indicated that RDTs have plenty of room. We'll see!

I ordered a pair through Butterscotch in the fall with an arrival date supposedly in April. I'm an 8.5 in Iron Rangers and Wesco. I ordered a 7.5 in the RDT. Hopefully I'm right.
Kind of annoyed that other retailers started bringing them in before pre-orders.

So, I received these on Saturday and am very stoked about them. The black CXL is already starting to show a bit of evo after only a couple days of wear, which is pretty interesting — my other boots in the same leather have certainly shown some nice aging, but not quite so quickly.
Overall note: these things fit BIG. I'm a 13 Brannock and normally opt for 12 in boots of this sort of variety (Lofgren, Viberg, Rangers), which is often a tad bit tight. These, however, have plenty of room — I almost wondered if I could've pulled off an 11 (doubt I would've gone for that, but I was def curious). I will say, after having boot after boot that's just a smidge too small (I'm often SOL as a bigfoot), it's pretty nice to have some boots that actually have a bit of room. I'd put these alongside my Lofgren M43s as most comfortable.
Last note: I don't feel like it's necessary to badmouth the shop that sold me these boots, but it was an abysmal experience (I already touched on the topic enough at Styleforum, which was the only place I could find some info from other frustrated buyers, so if you're so inclined, check it out there). Instead, I'll just offer the fact that Standard & Strange sells RDT now. Their price is a bit higher, but had I been given the opportunity to buy from S&S vs the company I went with (which, when I ordered the boots a year ago were the only place I could find them in the US), I would've gone with S&S without even the tiniest bit of hesitation.

So would you recommend taking these in the same size as Iron Rangers, or maybe half a size down?

I’d say either the same size as Rangers or maybe a half size down. If a pair of Rangers is roomy for you, I’d definitely go a half size down.
It’s funny bc as a size 12 or 13, I don’t even think about half sizes. What a nice concept! Why there’s no 12.5 is beyond me.

I know they were delayed this time because of pandemic/supply chain issues, so really I have no idea. That said, someone on Styleforum did say that emailing RDT directly is a good option — they apparently gave a lot of helpful info and had no language barrier issues. So that’s a big plus, as there’s not a lot of info on the company out there, or at least not that I’ve found.

@henry_david yeah man they’re some good shit. You wear a 14? I bet these would fit you if so. Def might be worth a try-on next time they’re in stock over there. Damn happy I don’t have regular access to that store! Haha

Yeah I take a 14.5 but usually settle for a 14 (shoes that run large) or a 15 (shoes that run small).

@popvulture how are you liking those RDTs? How’s the build quality and comfort now that you’ve had them a little bit? They have a couple models that have been piquing my interest. The Roots 8.5 combat boot looks pretty sick!

@Mizmazzle they're great! I have too many boots so it's not like they've gotten a real significant amount of wear, but it's been enough to say that they're holding up just fine. I'm pretty sure the leather on mine is just CXL, but I think it might be a brown hand-finished over the top with black or something, because they're starting to show some cool wear in the areas where the leather naturally slouches.
The only thing I kinda didn't like is that I got some kinda ugly looking scuffs on one of the toes, I think maybe from rubbing the brake pedal in my car. I put some Pecard's black dressing on that particular area though and it blended in great.
Watch out for the sizing, definitely make sure to ask Standard and Strange (assuming you're buying from them?) how the particular model you're interested in runs. Like I said before, I normally wear a 13 or 14 and I feel like I almost could've gotten away with an 11 in the Casper. 12 is fine though, nice n' roomy.

Man, S&S just put up a huge selection of RDTs for preorder. Sucks it's such a far-off delivery — late 2024. That said, I'm really tempted by those navy Coupens. I have til Friday to decide
