Is the field coat the same shade of olive as the olive N1?….it seems a slightly different shade of green in the photos

No, they are different, and the photos are accurate.

We should have given them different colour suffixes, our bad….

After some postage mishap I got this bad boy on my back right now, and ~DAMN~ this is a killer piece.

The other thread was right, you can fit an entire bottle of rum on the pockets, they're massive. The thing cuts a spectacular figure, the blanket lining was a masterstroke, reminds me of the affectionately referred to 'horse blankets' we had in the army.

Going to be wearing this thing for the rest of my life. You guys knocked this one out of the park, and well into stable orbit.

I love this coat so much!  It's everything - warm and sturdy like a bivvy, and very cool.

Since IMHO it had some minor flaws I got it altered by my local tailor:

                • a solid coatloop
                • knitted storm cuffs
                • wool-linings for the large side pockets

                Just perfect now.  🙂

Great! Pocket lining indeed would be great and yes, I was missing the loop just yesterday in the train…

Very smart upgrades. Of all of them, the locker loop is my favorite although I wouldnt mind lined pockets either tbh.

Great upgrade… would like to have some warm and cosy pocket linings too.

Dear Iron Heart team, could you please share a pic of Johnny wears size L of Whipcord M-51 Type Field Coat over a UHF? We have exactly the same measurements. Many thanks!

I want the coat to have some room, especially in the chest, so I can wear it over a sweater or a UHF, but not being to bulky…

This morning, minus 2º celsius, having a coffee and a long chat with a good friend on our farmers market - I was so glad to have my wool lined pockets!  🙂

50% pure new wool, 50% alpaka wool - see here if you're interested, was an easy job for my tailor

@AdamJ many thanks for the photo. The size L looks great on Johnny.

Is the coat comfortable closed, wearing the UHF inside?

@AdamJ I know I’m asking a lot but is it possible to post another photo of Johnny wearing size XL.

I’m rather skeptical about the layering opportunities and comfort…

Hello everyone, thought I would make a post after receiving this amazing jacket.  I had a few email exchanges with Ross, he did such a great job making sure I was comfortable with sizing and just double checking everything before going through with it, which is always appreciated with a purchase no matter the expense.  I work in service as well, so I always appreciate and support a business that in turn respects and appreciates it’s customers.

I’m not exactly a photographer, but I took a goofy picture of me wearing this beast of a jacket.  It should fill my mild winter like -5 to 10 range, but I could easily layer this up to go way below, it should drop to -20 at nights this week, so I’ll see how she goes.  Really loving this piece, as always with Iron Heart absolutely top craftsmanship.

It really is great. I haven’t worn anything else this winter here in Switzerland. With a thermal and UHF even -8 haven’t been an issue for me.

Ya I’m really liking it, I love the style and tried the McCoy’s version on years ago, but it didn’t drape right, it’s thinner and just wasn’t looking the part on me, so as much as I loved the idea of the coat, I had to accept it didn’t fit my body type.  Saw this, and Iron Heart Shirting really works for me, so I just decided to order without seeing in person, which I do all the time for a pair of jeans or a flannel, but never a coat.  Really happy I did, also glad I grabbed a medium instead of my typical uhf large.

I am sure I could easily wear this through winter, I love my sheepskin coats for when it’s below -15 but sometimes they are a bit much, this coat can easily look the part of a fall coat and I don’t look crazy wearing it when the temps rise around 10 or so.  But, as my friend says, on literally any day of the year you can see a guy in shorts and a person in a extra long Canada goose parka out on the street, whether it’s August or January.  Just super happy with this, as you might tell by my silly smile.
