I didn't see a thread for N&F on here so i'll just put this one up.  Here's something to start it off:
N&F is going to make a 32oz denim which seems ridiculously overdone.  What do you guys think of this?  I've heard of numerous quality issues with their '24oz' denim (which people say doesn't even feel like 24oz) so idk why they'd try to make an even heavier denim.  IMO iron heart seems like the only denim brand that can handle heavy denim properly

32oz denim seems like serious overkill,,would have thought it far too stiff/rigid and incredibly hard/uncomfortable to wear,,,,might only be suitable for seriously hardcore denim perverts,,,oooooppps purists,,,,,,,,,,,IronHeart 21oz is ,i would say ,more suitable,,could be wrong,,but its perfect in every way fer me,, 😉

That's because they started their company by ruining some perfectly good denim and when they got big enough to get their own denim woven they wasted perfectly good cotton.

To be fair they have introduced a lot of ppl to the world of raw/San jeans by acting as an entry level brand.

I actually have a Laptop Bag made out of that 32oz sample, that Lennaert of Benzak Denim Developpers got his hands on. The denim is great. You should see the thick selvage line. But it's not wearable.

What's the point in weaving denim that's not wearable? Like I said waste of cotton. Still we want to see that bag please

Look at this selvage line: no waste of cotton. It's a unique thing made of leftovers:

the 32oz was only used for some sample pairs and AFAIK never intended to be used for regular production. the denim was woven on looms for carpets IIRC.

Besides IH and Samurai there are some other brands with heavy denim. Let's see what the 24oz denim from PBJ will be like

The NF staff are really helpful and nice and I think NF are better entry jeans than APC.

Both jeans are horrible… Good starter jeans imo is LVC or cheap, 2ndhand FH or Samurai...

come on, no one who begins with raw denim will buy a Samurai from the start. You need to infiltrate people with modern cuts and low prices, then a small chosen percentage will fall in love with dry denim and move on to higher quality. N&F seems to have attractive cuts for young people (like nudie), who would buy a 33 LVC when he's 20?

It's the same thing as with music - if I hadn't bought Smash by The Offspring back in 95 (?) I wouldn't have started to listen to punk. 2 Months later I listened to Suffer and so on.

No offense to anyone, but I don't like that sort of looking down on other brands. Hate on G-Star if you must hate.

No I mean young people 😉 I wouldn't call somebody who discovers raw denim a fashionista, there are enough other ways to dress for them. If your first raw denim was Sugar Cane - great. But stores who sell this, don't grow on trees and we all don't want them to. So - it's perfect as it is. There are beginner's brands from which you can develop further, if you're passionate. I started with nudie as well and learnt by reading forums. What's wrong with that?

nothing wrong reading forums and learning from there.

Your mention about more attractive cuts made me think fashionistas, not young people.

BUt I'm just an old stubborn geezer who'll nowadays break before bend.  😛 and I've been so long out of fashion that I can remember.  🙂 and opiniois are like a-holes, everybody's got one.
