@Shanman11 - I will disagree with sizing down. One of my favorite quotes is “size for the thighs”.  I like to be comfortable in my jeans. XHS WILL shrink & it hates to stretch out. This is my experience after 3 pairs of XHSib & 3 pairs of XHS.

I removed my above comment because it was lazy and unhelpful. But I can say that if the waist is too big and you hope to shrink it, that just won't work. I have owned 8 or so pairs of XHS over the years, and many other various IH pairs, 3 of which were sized up and the fit was always too loose over time.

I've tried hot soaking, boiling, hot washes with the water heater set to explode, you name it and the waist might shrink. 75 inches. But it will always stretch out to the original size and then some. It even says this in the product description.

I agree that if the thighs are too small then maybe the cut isn't for you in the first place… but if the OP is close to a size they will get more out of the smaller size. Unless it is too small in some measurement. It seems like they are on the right track emailing IHUK and they have plenty of experience with various cuts and denims.

Arrgghh!!! This will be a tough call either way. Lately I’ve been going a  bit more lax to be comfortable in other brands etc. I have put on some Rona weight and it’s stubborn to come off these days and at my age (55 but doing look it😹👍🏼🙋🏻‍♂️) So it’sa difficult choice. The 777 cut might lend itself to going larger as opposed to tighter/smaller. I used to have skiers/ skaters legs and butt however again, too much work these days, I come home and pass out in my jeans 😹✌🏼 Thanks so much,
          Patrick

Also a thought I had is maybe buying both pairs and returning the one that doesn't fit. You're going to lose $30 in return shipping but you will have a pair of jeans that will fit versus taking a chance and it not working out.

I appreciate it. I’ll probably go with the 36” and go with a stretch even tho they don’t like to stretch supposedly compared to all their other weights. The 25 oz are different is what I’ve been told directly from IH

The 19oz LHT of your 666’s is a very different denim to this. It doesn’t shrink and stretches easily. The XHS shrinks and will stretch only with effort. The crew are right, they are different. Generally you end up with a pair about the same as, or slightly bigger than, starting measurements. I’d say the w36 pair will end up around 37”.

The 777 also has a relatively low rise meaning the sit more on the hips than at the waist. Depending on you body shape, this can be a good or a bad thing. For me it is bad. I can do an actual 35-36” in jean in the 777 but starting dims of 34” or a little less in the 888.

As a matter of fact I would recommend looking at the 888. It has a more generous thigh, still tapers and has a smaller hem as a result and the high rise means it can be sized down as it actually sits were most people are slimmest in their torso.

Awesome expert advice as usual !! I see indeed they have the ib available in the 888 as well. This may indeed be the better cut.  Originally I thought I would hate anything in a med/high rise but recently purchased some Oni and PBJ's and Benzaks in this type of cut and they're comfortable, more than I ever thought would be possible. I'm a bit old school and thought I would hate anything with a "drop crotch" or anything I felt was saggy in the crotch. I'll do the compare thing on the site w/ three cuts : 666 (cause that's what I have), 777 & 888.
And then there's the thing of how much Denim is too much 😃 ?! I know once I buy these all others will take a major back seat to this hardcore heavy ( I love it ) Denim !! Sigh…..at least I have a job  😉
thanks again for the awesome advice !!

I'm about 1 week of wear into these after a wash and hem by Indigoproof. I'm thinking that overall these jeans fit pretty well for me, nothing feels too tight at all. I've got room where I need it, I feel the fit is quite flattering. I'll try to get some fit pics up.

One problem I'm having though is with the button fly area. Its super stiff and digs into my stomach when I sit, making it a bit uncomfortable. Anyone else ever have this problem?

Lol - I have the same issue with mine!  My dog’s tan fur seems to be uncontrollably drawn to these.

Here are some pics of mine after a month of wear.  They’ve broken in nicely.  I gave them a warm soak with some agitation before wearing.  They were SUPER tight afterwards, but have since stretched back out.  I am really loving the fit and feel of these.

The waistband where it buttons up is a pretty heavy, thick inflexible area, with a right angle of felled 25oz seam. So that will dig in. The good news is that with wear the waistband will stretch and that area will soften.

Either that or your stomach will develop callouses and so you won’t notice anymore. [emoji1]

@bobbychacha great looking jeans right there! Almost the exact amount of evo in the same places. I’m loving mine. They were before wearing them my ideal measurements and after wearing them for a month I am absolutely in love with them.

@pacreamer i agree with the above statement from Neph. The waistband will stretch, especially if there’s pressure exerted there. My problem was more on my hip bones but it went away 😉

First update for the Indigo Invitational after 30 light wear days. Taking it slow and letting the denim settle in. I sized up one tag size this year to allow a little more room for the fabric to gain personality. I'm also finding them to be quite a bit more comfortable this way.
