Samples - New Products We Are Working On
-
Ooooh, look at what is ready to start sampling…..
Yep, it is the UHR (AKA 21/23).
H says it looks almost identical to the previous weave (we are using the same tiny factory, and the same loom as before), so we are pretty confident it will look and behave the same as the last iteration. But we will sample all 5 core cuts, just to be doubly sure…
-
And news on the new raw (with the new super-secret technique Haraki has developed)….
He's unhappy with the look and feel of what he has woven to date.
So we are starting again with the UHR as the base from which to work. We will use a beige weft and aim for a finished weight of, wait for it, 21oz...
-
Giles, there's two iterations of UHR? Or Haraki-san is unhappy with that version of the fabric from your picture there?! I can't wait to see the stuff you guys have planned for the anniversary.
-
No. There is one iteration of UHR. It is this:
We have woven enough for 500 pairs jeans. I just told H to triple it.
No other raw denim else exists at the moment. But Haraki has been working on a new concept of raw denim for a couple of years now. He is unhappy with everything that has come off the loom. So he is going to take the principles of UHR and apply the concepts he has developed for the new raw and come up with something that after washing/shrinkage will be about 21oz.
It will not be UHR and it will not replace it.
-
Oh okay. I think I know what you mean. Thanks
-
Might be the light of the photo, but that UHR looks like it starts out a brighter blue than the other denims? Looks great
-
It does, but not as much as the photo suggests….

Yep, it is the UHR (AKA 21/23).
sample size 30/31 maybe

Cut? 888, 666 and 555 are already spoken for. The new way we are doing samples is that we will want them back after about a year to either go into the archives or be RE:LOVEd
would say 666 but given how I feel about my current pair, I feel 634 might be a better option given I'm riding more now and it feels like a perfect fit. sounds amazing to test ride a pair for the archives if you ask me.

@Giles maybe too early but tonal or contrast stitching?

@giles sorry, the UHR.
