So pleased was I with my Fox Pelican that I picked up another Fox knife recently, this time a more stylish, refined bit of kit. The wooden handle is gorgeous and the blade shape and flipper action superb. Very pleased.

neph93 That thing is gorgeous!  I love handles made with wood and natural materials. I’ve never owned a Fox knife… they look amazing.

Something Giles said in the inaugural podcast that has stuck with me is that Iron Heart customers tend to like nice, well made things. That idea certainly applies to me and my particular affection for guitars and, in this case, knives. I’ve loved knives since I was a kid and my grandpa would get me a new pocket knife for Christmas every year to add to my collection (usually a little Buck or Schrade folder). Most of my knives have moved on but I have a few from Bob Dozier that I just can’t seem to part with. He makes incredible knives, usually with his legendary D2 steel. Simple designs made with premium materials that just work. Almost forgot to mention his kydex sheaths. I typically like natural material but his sheaths are designed so well and are so practical that I’ve fallen in love with them as well.  Here are some pics of my remaining collection.

My most used knife is this K-2 General Utility with green micarta scales. I’ve field dressed many whitetail deer with it and it holds an edge incredibly well. 3 1/4” blade

Pic of sheath. Horizontal carry is very comfortable when sitting or just bending over in the woods.

For daily carry I rotate mostly between these three Benchmade folders. Osborne 940-2, mini griptilian, combo sheepsfoot with spidey hole and a small summit lake. I may get some custom scales to upgrade the mini grip as the factory ones feel kind of cheap and I carry it the most.

The Anso design element is obvious there. Reminds me of my Giant Mouse.

IMHO, it's very much a Ken Onion inspiration / derivation.

@Giles  Oh that’s a beautiful knife.  Simple lines and the ergonomics are incredible. I’ve read about Bob’s design ethic and I think he prioritizes function over everything.  His knives are tools that need to stay comfortable in the hand even when you use them for long stretches at a time. I think that’s a Yukon Pro Skinner.  Also, referring back to the IH podcasts, I recall @neph93 saying that when he discovered Iron Heart he was like, “ this is it…this is what I’ve been looking for” (paraphrasing). And that’s how I was when I got my first Dozier knife. They suit me…as does Iron Heart  🙂

Mr. Dozier's knives are exquisite, @SKT. I've appreciated them from afar for many years while staying stuck with buying (and loving) the knifemaker whose work speaks to me much like Dozier's speaks to you: Phill Hartsfield, Sr.

For more regular use, I often like snapping up Spyderco knives. I actually just bought the larger version of the Yojimbo 2, aptly named the Yojumbo. Here it is in DLC:

Yeah, a sorta rough G10 to help with keeping a firm grasp on such a big blade (3.98").

I used to have a CR sebenza. I bloody loved that knife. Went to the pub one night after a day on site (where a decent knife comes in very handy) and forgot I had it in my back pocket. It was clearly visible and someone mentioned to the doorman that I had a knife. I was completely upfront and handed it over no dramas, admitted that I'd forgotten it was jn my pocket. Long story short, they 'confiscated' it (lucky them) and I promptly got barred from the pub (no drunkness or aggression). All a bit over the top really, I was extremely reasonable and apologetic, but I guess it was my bad for having it with me. So that's the story of me not buying expensive pocket knives anymore. If I can't carry it legally what's the point.

Not only did they take it, but they barred you, too? Jesus. Sorry to hear that. I'd be bummed if I had a $$$ knife (like a CR) on me and that happened.
