Took the wife and kids to experience the MOTOGP at Silverstone this weekend. Colder than we'd expected, but for my wife to say she had an amazing day, that really sums it up. We sat in the Village B grandstand overlooking the loop, and the noise these machines emit climbing to full chat down Wellington Straight is still ringing in my ears. WOW!
Was good to chat to the girls and boys on the Harley Stand between races, and try out for size the new Triumph speed twin.

Thank god indeed, can't imagine the disappointment of heading there for it to cancelled. All for the right reasons of course, conditions looked atrocious.

Part of what would have pissed me off, is that it was not cancelled. Running for 2 laps behind the safety car was deemed enough for a result to be given and points to be awarded.  A cynical use of the rules IMHO.

@Giles What did you do to your neck?  Old injury or just gremlins popping up with wear and tear?

I was wondering why you hadn't posted any swimming updates for a while…

Edit:  I love the pictures of the old piers and wrecks…Are there a few in the area that you dive around?

I don't dive in UK.  I'm not a dry-suit diver 

Re: My neck.  I was starting to get a lot of pain in my neck after a swim.  I had an MRI and we found out that 2 sets of 2 of my cervical vertebrae were fused together, so I effectively only have 5, not 7 cervical vertebrae. This reduces the range of motion I have in my neck.  Swimming, cycling with low handlebars or anything that makes me need to extend my neck is very tricky for me.  Even diving causes issues, but to look forward, I can just rotate around my waist and minimise stretching the neck.  The surgeon said the only thing they could do to fix it was spinal surgery, which got a hard no from me 

I was born like this, it is a genetic deformity, and is the same genetic screw-up that resulted in my pinkies needing to be amputated….

Can’t say that I would rush out for that surgery either.

I didn’t realize that the water was that cold there.  Is wreck diving very popular in Gosport/Portsmouth?
