IH-1955S - 21oz Selvedge Denim "1955" Vintage Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo

I'm planning on ordering these jeans next week. I am a short guy, so I am going to need a hem. Is it safe to hem as is or should I wash them first?

I'm really excited to get these. I have two pairs of 634s but the rise is too short for my 44 waist size. These line up perfectly with my regular STF 501s.

Perfectly safe to hem. The 21oz does not shrink.

I've always wondered about these jeans for myself… I was in-between 634, 463 or these for my last pair and went for the 463. Very happy with them but still curious about how these will work for me.

I'm not seeing my post, so I'll ask again. Forgive me, it's a double post.

Are the back pockets on the 1955s in the same place as the 634s? If not, are they higher up or lower? The 634s back pocket placement is perfect and any lower would look bad on me. Thank you!

While I doubt they are identical, having worn both, I’d say they dare similar.

The 1955 “may” Be there in more traditional spacing as the 634 are actually slightly further closer to the inseam stitch than “normals jeans” so you can wear a wallet on a bike. These are a higher rise, so expect them slightly higher?

What's up friends, I've got a great pair 1955 that are beat to perfection.
I love this cut. I'm 6 foot 6 inches, 215lbs.  This is the best Iron Heart cut for me.  Also in the pictures - an iron heart thermal, and legendary Rainbow flip-flops.

@Big Jeans – Just seeing this… I myself am 6'6" and about 190lbs. I've been wearing the 634 cut exclusively. What drew you into this one over, say, the 888 or 634? Would love to hear your experience.

I have pair of the 634. The rise is not high enough. It fits me like tight, poorly fitting skinny jean.
The 1955 are amazing. The higher rise works for the 6'6 frame. And they are slightly baggy, but not to much.

My pair shipped today! I've been gradually getting into looser fitting jeans over the last few years after wearing skinnies for the longest time. This is my first time going with a 501 inspired pair and I'm excited to try out a vintage cut for the first time.

Same boat. After enjoying what happened when I sized up on a pair of 463’s, my next pair will be a toss up between 1955’s and 634’s.
