Hard Drinkers, Lets Drink Hard (Spirits, Liquors and Cocktails)

Home made Vodka — using the “First Aid” shot glass makes sense with this stuff.

Prosecco w/ a wedge for her, Campari Spritz for me.

Nice pics and drinks. Sometimes an easy highball is the perfect transition from week to weekend.

Kaieteur swizzle -
Jefferson’s Ocean Voyage 23. I just finished a Voyage 20 last week and I can say that batch was good but this is better. A bit sweeter, saltier, and a touch more viscous. I need to buy another bottle while it’s at our local Costco.

@Appfaff man I love Amaro & Campari. I grew up in the Italian neighborhood “The Hill” in St Louis but never drank them until recently. The Campari spritz is the perfect summer drink!
-
I agree!! I couldn’t stomach the stuff until recently - now I love it!

I call this the Montenegroni since it’s 3 ingredients and 1:1:1. I think it’s superior to the standard “white Negroni” which is Suze, Lilet, and gin.
-
Love me a Negroni - never heard of most of these ingredients - your stuff is NEXT LEVEL

Yeah I asked if they had anything like that at the bar last night and the bartender laughed in my face.

Ha well we all have our strengths.
Amaro is kinda like Tiki, there are bars that focus on it, but the rest don’t incorporate it much. Amari are difficult to work with since they’re all so different and there is no cultural touchstone to fall back on. What I mean by that is the daiquiri is how you drink hot, un-aged rum without coughing: lime and sugar, ice if you have it. However, amari are all drunk straight as an after dinner drink in Italy (or France to a lesser extent). Italians are perplexed as to why you might mix an amaro, as it is already a blend of ingredients macerated in alcohol and sweetened. Said simply, an amaro is something of a pre-bottled cocktail. That, and as I said earlier they are very different and one can’t be substituted for another. Montenegro is nothing like Ramazzotti is nothing like Fernet.
A straightforward one tonight. Hurricane (simple version): 1:1:2 lemon juice, passion fruit syrup, and black rum.

I'd donate my nads for one of those rn

My wife and I have promised to hit a Chevy’s hard when we feel fully comfortable with going to an indoors place (and line up some weekend childcare). We know there is better food and better drinks available, but it’s a guilty pleasure.

Anyone looking for a subtly plated, sweet dark sherry finish whisky then check this out, delicious stuff.
Bowmore 18, PX sherry finish. Originally released as a travel exclusive but can be found on some online whisky sales websites.

@Seul I know the Brexit topic has been debated on this forum quite robustly and mainly in a negative light.
There is a small benefit to Brexit and this is duty free travel prices for us Brits flying abroad, they are now much better and much closer to the "duty free" name tag these bottles carry.
That Bowmore should sell for £94.40 and is in the airport at £56.59, a 40% saving.
