I took a trip to Melbourne last week, and it turned out that one of the Toyota dealers had the Yaris GR in stock, so I went to take a quick look. Didn't get a chance to drive it.

What really surprised me is how light the doors feel. If you are after a VW style clunk, you're looking at the wrong car.

Interior space upfront is good. I'm nearly 6'3" / 190 cm tall, with long legs, and I could fit in. But the rear seats look like they'll only fit babies, and the luggage space is tiny.

Lol I wish it was bigger. I see 3-4 everyday. I text my wife daily about trading in her Jeep for one 🙂

Sadly, the nearest dealer is 2+ hours away, which means I would be walking to work a lot haha

              I love how they look!

I was offered this at a very fair price last week.  It's very original.  I want it so much, but do not have a garage.  I spoke to H about it, his answer  "Buy it and build a garage"…..

I could probably get away with buying the car, I'd get a little bit of shit, but that would pass.  Building a garage would be a fast track to divorce.....

You could look into one of the classic car storage facilities. There are a few around Hampshire.

Or build a garage. We need another thread about you extending the house. 😃

As some of you guys may remember we had some work done to our Impreza, some time ago, which took the BHP to 500. Along with the numerous mods was the requirement for the installation of an Exedy twin plate clutch that was able to handle the power. Driving with the twin plate clutch was like learning to drive again and, sadly, Jules couldn't get used to it and chose to not drive the car.

Living where we live there is the need for plenty of hill starts, tons of clutch control and regular town driving. Twin plate clutches do not like or appreciate this type of driving. After nearly two years of driving the car with the twin plate clutch, it is about to fail as it is slipping more and more.

Good news; the car is going to the garage for removal of Exedy twin plate clutch and associated flywheel and fitment of an Exedy "Pink Box" kit, which is a straightforward organic clutch kit, up rated, with associated flywheel. What this really means is Jules will, once again, be able to drive the car which we are both over the moon about. Happy days  🙂

A beauty! It would be a wonderful prop for IH gear photo sessions, which would deservedly take it from hobby status to investment grade asset.

                                      The journey is the objective.

that's why the only way to make a rex faster is to get an evo  😛 😛

hahaha I've been wondering where this little beauty has been.. with regards to your clutch, could you not have gone with a single plate clutch and a lightweight flywheel? a lightweight flywheel itself can hold good amount of power, without having to go the full twin plate route..

or maybe since you've built it that far already, why not go sequential…

That's a gorgeous car @Giles . Have you considered renting a garage close to where you live? You may be surprised and find availability close to your home.

@louisbosco - the Exedy twin plate clutch and lightweight flywheel have been in situ in the Subaru for nearly two years performing beautifully. It is only very recently that the clutch is beginning to slip under heavy load / acceleration. Choices were; (1.) replace worn clutch plates or (2.) fit an Exedy "Pink Box" kit, which is a straightforward organic clutch kit, up rated (to handle upto 500 bhp) with associated flywheel. Going with choice 2 is a no brainer as it means that Jules can, once again, drive the car. Decision is made and car is booked in for Tuesday next week  🙂
