@Anesthetist I believe the hands have been changed on this new 41mm version Sub.  The width of the hands have been evened up.  On the previous 114060 maxi case Sub the hour hand looks to be thinner than the minute hand.  The new 41mm watch looks to have evened out the width of the hour and minute hands.

@Snowy I got very lucky with this pick up.  I was offered it from Wempe in London who are a Rolex AD.  Generally speaking getting SS professional pieces from the London AD's is even more difficult than the smaller regional AD's.

I bought my Niessing wedding ring from Wempe and this was my only purchase with them.  When the 41mm sub was announced in September I sent a very speculative e-mail expressing interest.  I got an email from Wempe last week asking me if I wanted to buy the non date sub and they had one set aside for me.  I was gobsmacked to be honest as like you I had been trying to get the old 114060 watch for several years with several dealers with whom I have much higher buyer profile, so for Wempe to offer me the new 41mm version within a few weeks of their release was exceptional.

The way that UK Rolex AD's are now distributing the popular SS professional models looks to have changed recently.  The old wait list model looks to have been replaced by a Preferred buyer model.  Not sure if this is the case for buying Rolex in other countries?

The last few UK AD's I have spoke to have all told me that wait lists have been binned and known loyal customers are getting offered the hot ticket professional items first.

I am not sure this is a great way to go for the average guy looking to buy a SS professional watch.  I suspect this will actually feed the grey market.  The grey dealers who have large buying profiles with the Rolex AD's will now be firmly at the front of the queue.  Loads of threads over on TRF (The Rolex Forum) regarding this.

Wearing my ERA Prometheus Tourbillion today. My two other watches are both automatic / self winding so this mechanical manual / non self winding watch is still catching me out. After not wearing the watch for a while, I'll set it to the correct time and then, after some time has passed, glance down to check the time and the hands haven't moved! Why? because I haven't wound the watch . . . first world problems  🙂

I like the look of the Laco München Chrono. They have printed the registers for the chronograph and the date wheel as grey on black, so that it appears to be a time only watch from a distance.

There's a write-up at Worn and Wound, or you can visit the presale page at Laco.

Thanks @Giles @Appfaff I had to buy them again after my watch restart 2 years ago. I´ve spent 12 months only with Apple watch but last year just bought Tudor Pelagos Blue and these PADIes again. Blue is just my watch colour:-D

@Manticore Very nice!  Is that a separate bracelet surrounding the watch?

A long, long time ago, there were lots of barely known watch brands that didn't survive the Quartz Apocalypse. One such manufacturer was Evans, which as far as I can tell, made a range of affordable, but generally unremarkable, watches.  As some of you know, that happens to be my last name (no relation). For that reason, I keep a lookout for them and have purchased a couple over the years.  This is my newest, and nothing like any other Evans I've seen previously.

It will need a complete overhaul, but I really like it.

                                          Love that…..Well done....

For some reason, it reminds of this:

A few years ago, a fishing mate of mine (who is a serious pikey and hangs around dumps and buys bits and pieces that have been salvaged from the skips/dumpsters by the "Recycling Operatives") got hold of one (not the one in the pic, I grabbed that from the web).

I think he probably paid no more than a fiver for it.  He had it fully refurbed and then offered it to me for £1000.  I just did not have £1000 lying around at the time.  I often think about how much I really wanted it….
