Maybe it's down to the specialities of the companies that JMM works with. I could see the Japanese as producing very refined, retro acetate frames, and their titanium spectacles are ahead of the game. Perhaps the Italian firm has more experience with avant garde designs.

But I'm speculating here!

So… I have had these DITA glasses I had done up for a few years and have never had the guts to wear in front of my wife lol - wondering if I should just keep rocking them as glasses (when she is gone, obviously) or if I should try to get my local rep to order me some tinted lenses and turn into sunglasses so they “see the light of day” (pun 100% intended)

I think clear frames look best with contrasting lenses IMHO. So if RX glasses, I’d prefer acetate with a hint of color. Pure transparent frames look best with sun lenses I think. (Otherwise they’re reminiscent of safety glasses…)

I have a pair of Maui Jim Sunnies that are similar to your Dita's @Appfaff and I love them….

@Giles - yep, there it is! Just spoke to my optometrists office and they can custom cut essentially any polarized lens I want for them.. Your MJs make a good point for a blue tint. Are those a grey lens with blue mirror, aka deep sea lens?

Don't know if I want to go grey (deep water, high sun) or an amber (Shallow water/Moderate sun) base with a green tint…

They are a deep water Polariser (though I use them in shallow water in UK).  In the tropics in shallow water I always use an Amber polariser.

I have another pair of Maui Jim with same lens, which I bought for a steal off Ebay.  I don't go out onto the water in the tropics without a spare pair of glasses.  I did once, in Oman and the wind whipped them off my face early in the day, I had the most miserable days fishing, never again…...

I have the Velzylyland in crystal too.    The Maui Jim super-thin glass polarized lenses are unrivaled. I wish they were available for 3rd party frames.

@Appfaff stick in a set of Transitions lenses, and then they can be both.

Actually, their Driver's lenses look interesting. They vary between yellow and bronze depending on the conditions. I don't think that they go completely clear.

Never heard of the brand before but just picked up a prescription pair! Decent price and plenty of frame styles.
