Haha! Great work. Keeping both or checking them and sending one back?

@Nemph. Definitely keeping both. The only reason i may send back is if i screwed up the size but i dont think i did.
They will be the only denim jackets i own. The rest of my jackets are….. well just jackets lol. Not denim. Really curious to see the difference between the 2. What got me into IH in all honesty is a pair of IH 888s-od that i bought recently size 36 and love them. I am looking to get another pair maybe different cut, just not sure what would be another good fit.

777 has a lower rise and will be slimmer than your 888, but has a similar taper. Worth a try. If you like a higher rise and a more relaxed leg then the 1955 would be great.

Wanna go for a lower rise actually. The 888 has a relatively high rise so was thinking something different. What scares me is the thigh measurement on size 36. And if i go 38 to get the thigh right the waist will be big. I need a minimum of 13.3 inch thigh measurement and that will be tight but if it streches to 13.6 or so i am good. I am good all the way to 14 inch thigh and still have a slim look. What you think?

Low waist and that wide a thigh means 634 or posssibly the 301 (available via Self Edge only, and they measure differently to IHUK, so be careful with that).

Was looking at 634. Are they lower rise? Also was looking at the No lot i guess? Not sure if i said it right. Looks like it has a 13.2 or 13.3 thigh at 36 size which is border line doable but hoping to stretch to 13.6 or so. I think that has a lower rise also but not sure

The 777 has the lowest rise of all IH cuts, the 634 next lowest. It varies a little between iterations though. You’ll get 0.3” stretch at the top of the thigh on 21oz OD, but not necessarily on other IH denims. The NO-LOT is an outlier, compare the rise on it to the 777 and 555. If it is closer to the 777 it is low, closer to the 555, not so much.

Thank you sir. You have been extremely helpful. 634 is the sure bed. I checked the 301 but the thigh looks sketchy.
                          Thanks again!

This jacket looks amazing. I'm hoping it can be my first IH piece. It would be great if somebody could help me out with some sizing advice first though. My measurements are roughly:

                            Height 6'0"
                            Shoulders 19.5"
                            Chest 38"
                            Waist 31"
                            Hips 34"

I wear medium in virtually everything ever, but I'm wondering if I should go up to a large for this. Unfortunately I don't have a similar style jacket (which fits me) to measure, but I measured a few of my favourite flannels, which tend to be about 17" across the shoulders and 20" - 21" p2p, and fit fairly relaxed. Looking at the IH staff vitals, I'm somewhere between Sam (large) and AJ (medium). Ideally I'd like to be able to wear a flannel or hoody underneath, although most of the things I own are nowhere near as heavy as anything IH.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hmmm… very hard to make a guess based on that info other that to say you are between an M and an L.

I suspect both would work but you may find the L a little roomy. Sam is mostly an L because of length issues, he is pretty tall. I’m sort of tempted to say try an L if you want to layer. However, given that your shirts are relaxed in that 20-21” space I’d err towards M.

Seeing as you are in the UK I’d strongly consider giving the guys in Gosport a ring and having a chat and go with their recomendation. Worst case you have to exchange it and what with overnight delivery you’ll only loose a day or two.

Cheers for the advice, @neph93, really helpful. One other key point I've just spotted though is that L is currently out of stock, so if M doesn't work I guess I'm stuck waiting for a restock  😞

Based on that I think I'll order an M and see if it works. If not, it'll go back and I'll have to find some patience from somewhere.

I'm a medium in most things as well.  My chest is about 38' as well.  I have the IHJ-69-KHA in a medium and can just fit a t-shirt underneath.  I'm a medium in all of my IH shirts as well.  I do have the IH-526Lod in Large.  There is just enough room for a flannel or hoody w/o having any issues buttoning it up.  Hope this helps!

Good plan. I’m crossing my fingers for you as the re-up was not that long ago and you may be waiting a while on the L.

Looking at the arms and shoulders I’d say the type III was a perfect fit. Your personal experience is important, but I’d say type III’s should be a little snug. I think it is also possible to mistake the weight and stiffness of the denim for sizing issues, if you aren’t used to it. The jacket will soften and loosen up meaningfully with wear, just like jeans do.
