On our last day visiting Hot Ingrid’s family I went out on a fishing trip on the fjord. It was great fun. There was a lot of life on and in the water with porpoise swimming around us, chasing herring. We fished off a holm at the mouth of the fjord and did well for mackerel and pollock, to the point when we started putting the back as we had enough to eat…

UHR and IHxViberg for the trip

I took filets from my share, covered them in flour, salt and pepper and fried them in butter for some supper.

Washed down with a tasty porter.

Took a little nighttime stroll after packing for the trip home…

The last couple of days we’ve been driving the return leg. 800km done, 200km to go today.

Absolutely. About this time of the year I like to take some kindling and foil to a beach about 30 mins drive from me. By that time the mackerel have made it this far north and if you catch one, you’ll catch five. I gut them, stuff them with lime or lemon, wrap them in foil and bake them in the coal of a quickly made fire. Brilliant.

Thanks gents… just read over my posts, and it was a fine holiday. Nice to have it documented.

I have a couple of weeks off still before work begins. There will be bread baking, fishing and some household maintenance in store.

Germans had it in summer last year and it barely got worn. A stop in Austria sounds like a good idea…
