We love this Japanese philosophy of denim production, which they got from loving (obsessing over) vintage American denim.
Americans were (and still mostly are) quite a bit larger that their Japanese counterparts, so most of the old jeans they had access to were pretty loose fitting on them.
Some of the younger Japanese guys I know but a size or two up just to replicate this look... -
