Probably not, I think they are larger on the work pants….Possible also a change in size depending upon the tag size...

From our new glossary that @neph93 has been working on for us…

The standard number of pockets found on a pair of jeans, introduced in 1922 by Levis Strauss & Co. 5-pocket jeans include two back pockets, two front pockets, and a coin (or watch) pocket, typically found in and above the right-hand front pocket. Contrary to popular belief, the fifth pocket is, in fact, one of the two back pockets, which was introduced in 1905 (the coin pocket appeared in 1890).

Are those fifth pocket sized the same in all styles?

            Posting that pic is fine.

The fifth pocket is one of the back pockets. Not the coin/watch pocket.

While IH are not a vintage/retro brand, their jeans retain a certain amount of authenticity and carry a lot of the dna from mid century jeans. That pocket was never intended for knife carrying and probably won’t be altered for that any time soon.

As G says, more technical, work styled bottoms  will have different pocket solutions than jeans.

Now that is what I love about forums you learn things, about the 5th pocket this time!

Besides not very practical I could easily call it character in a loving relationship with my 555’s.

I miss out some fading potential and that prob is what I pitty the most [emoji57](the blue Blood even has a sixth pocket, the fourth is for a pencil!):

Thanks! Had it for years and I love it! Bought at the same time together with the Blue Bloods. Unfortunatly both got extinct wich is too bad imo.

I’m largely a work shirt fan but I’ve fallen for a few westerns so far and really value the ease of doing/undoing snaps. Wondering whether anyone else with a beard suffers annoying beard ‘pulls’ from the topmost snap (female half) when undone. I’ve noticed some westerns (13) have a button at the top. Is that the reason for it?

For the westerns with snaps all the way up, perhaps a solution could be a small, removable but beautiful GAH male snap which one could use on different shirts as needed. Thus solving the beard snag glitch and simultaneously pimping the shirt? Sound useful?

                      The journey is the objective.

Love that you can hover over a product and see what's available with the different sizes.
It saves that extra step of actually clicking on the image to go to the product page.
Was wondering if it would also be possible to do that with the Seasonal or Continuous Production info.
Even if it was say a big C or a big S in the upper right hand corner?
I could tell at a glance if its an item I need to be quick about ( the seasonal stuff) or if I had time to buy if it were a Continuous item.

                        Just an idea 🙂

I know this has been brought up before. But just once I wish we could have an "experimental" UHF that was once brushed on the inside and not brushed on the outside.

                              Another wash and another shave.

For this experimental UHF I'd love something in the same block check pattern as above… maybe blue, black, and rust/brown color?
Black were the blue is, blue were the green is, and rust were the cream is.

                              And black is black 😄

From our experience, very few people want delivery without signature.  Some do, and they will contact us, we can then explain the risks. It actually costs us extra to require a signature, but the incidence of packages going missing when we ship with no signature is far higher than when one is,  And when a package does go missing it leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth. We do not want a radio button, yes/no for this, because we don't want people casually ticking it with no real thought about the consequences.  When a $1000 jacket goes missing it's really difficult for us to say "tough shit, you should not have waived the signature".

So it won't happen, but it's not a lot of effort to put "no signature please:" in the comments field.  If you do, the shipping boys will contact you to explain that if the package goes missing after leaving the local delivery depot, the risk is 100% yours.  Or you can elect to have the package shipped to a UPS pick-up point.

Increase production run numbers. I haven't bought a new UHF for about 2 years because I have to frickin WORK at 4pm BST when new items go on sale. There are so many newer IH fans I've noticed in the UK (great for business) that mid sizes sell out within minutes. Not everyone can take a toilet break at 4pm to get their order in  😢

We make what we think is prudent based on past experience.  Always have, always will. Predicting demand is one of the hardest things we do.

Unless a retailer is deliberately trying to throttle supply to create hype or whatever, it surely must be (certainly is with us) every retailer's goal to perfectly match supply with demand: No pissed off customers, no money tied up in deadstock, minimal storage requirements, no need to put stuff on sale etc etc.

I really wish we got it right more often than we do.  What makes a successful retailer, is not how often they get it right but how infrequently they get it wrong.

I just checked the store and there is only 1 UHFs in size xxl in any iteration, and its a workshirt. There are a few XS and XXXLs in some, as you'd expect.

I think UHFs have become pretty easy to predict. There aren't really any left, in any sizes, in the store at the moment, whereas I can buy as many denim westerns as I like. I appreciate that UHF iterations vary and are seasonal, but I think that producing and holding 10 or so more through the popular sizings would be a goer.

There are a growing number of forum members adding comments to the product item threads shortly after release highlighting that they missed out. I think it affects UHFs more so than any other product. That said, I'm not the one running a business, so I don't have the data avaible that you and H would to help you make decisions. You appear to have had more retailers come on board too. If I missed something in previous years I could be pretty confident I would find it at Rivet and Hide, my 'local' IH real store retailer. They even sell out within days now too.

I know that some high end brand's business model includes running supply just short of demand to build exclusivity into the brand's identity (Nike do it with some of their preorder Jordan releases). I do trust and believe  that this isn't IH's business model, and popular seasonal products have always sold out eventually. They just seem to sell out quicker this last few years as demand has grown.

So, just a handful more produced in popular sizes to give a few more of us a fighting chance? I am really loyal to the IH brand and wear it almost exclusively. I don't really want to be pulled away to the likes of Clutch Cafe or Son of Stag (nothing specifically wrong with those retailers I hasten to add), but if my existing UHFs start becoming threadbare and I need some more, I just hope I can depend on IH.

We produce more each year.  Last year we probably made twice as many UHF'S as we made in 2019, and we thought that was complete and utter absolute irresponsible madness when we made the commitment to Haraki.  We'll probably double it again this year (but we nay hit the ceiling on UHF yarn that Haraki has made, so have to cut back).  This is not just a case of popping down to the corner store and buying the ready-made fabric off the shelf.

Haraki has to guess what volume of natural Aspero he needs to buy, it then gets spun into yarn.  When he gets the orders, he has to initiate the dyeing of the appropriate lengths of yarn into the colors required to weave the fabric, then he needs to get it woven and finally made up into shirts.

The harsh reality is, if we don't shift what we make, Haraki is sitting on expensive yarn that he has had to pay for and we are sitting on expensive shirts that we have paid for and can't sell.

If we are going to get it wrong, then it is better to get it wrong by underestimating demand than overestimating. If we overestimate too often, then you may have to go to Son of a Stag or Clutch Cafe to buy your stuff.  Though having said that EI publishing, the parent of Clutch Magazine and Lightning Magazine has just gone into receivership, so Clutch Cafe, may not be an option for long.
