      I slung a (second) pair of these in a 60 degree 60min wash and got slightly more than 1.5inch out of the waist.  It was definitely a lot more shrinkage than on a 40 degree wash. I took photos so I can check measures later if this would help?

      The fit was ok before, but the post 60 degree wash is now much better for me.  So maybe try a 60 degree machine wash before moving on? Obviously the thighs and inseam shrank a little too (not loads).

      I have learnt a lot about Ironheart measures / new jean sizing / shrinking in the process, which despite being expensive has been interesting!

        Whether it is a 60C soak or machine wash is irrelevant as long as the temp is there, and the agitation is there. I tend to do a hot soak with agitation first then a machine wash. Did you avoid streaky lines in the denim?

          60C won’t do anything to the IH 14oz or 21oz denims. They have been, fully sanforised, and industrially washed before release. I have washed on 95C and they won’t shrink.

            Yes they look fine - I can’t even see any noticeable colour loss when compared against the original hem cut offs.

            Some of the dark colour on the leather patch has been lost but otherwise it seems unharmed too.

            Possibly a little less stiff too but that’s maybe just as I’ve worn them for a week or so.

              Thank you! It’ll be a while. The xhs is giving me hell atm  😃

              @neph93:

              Well done Rox. They look predictably brilliant and are made of the greatest denim on earth.

              Thanks Reuben! The most surprising tidbit I noticed was that the front pockets are substantially easier to access. It’s not like stuffing sausages into casing and ending up with denim burns on the back of my hands 😃 Whether it’s due to the top block being a little looser fit than the other pairs I own or purposefully constructed that way, whatever it is it’s got me giddy!

              @Chris:

              Hell of a difference in the before and after shots. They look fantastic.

              Thank you Chris! Felt like a totally different pair after a wash!

              @Thor:

              Hi Rox - what temperature did you do the hot wash at? Was it a soak or machine wash?

              Jeans look great!

              Thanks man! I always go the machine wash route to get whatever shrink out. Per the manual, a hot wash is 122F/50C.

              The pair you got 1.5” shrink in the waist, were these new or previously worn and stretched out? Kinda debating on a second hot wash + dryer run to get 100% of the shrink out.

                Awesome fit @RoxRocks86 welcome to the XHS club. I can’t imagine wearing XHS in Hawaii.  ??? But, I’d say the same for UHR so maybe I’m just a wuss.  😃

                  Hi Rox - the jeans are only a couple of weeks old. I’d washed them at 40 and they shrunk about 1 inch but I wondered if I could get some more shrink out of them so did a 60 soon after which definitely tightened them up further.

                  After the 60 wash I was measuring about 32.75 in the waist (which was a little concerning!) but this stretched out quite quick. It’s almost a week of constant wear and they’re now at 33.5 (original waist 34.5).

                  This seems to actually be my right size so I’m hoping they stay there but guess they’ll keep going to at least their original tag size. We shall see. The hotter wash has seemed to generally have tightened up other areas of the jeans so I’m pretty happy with the results.

                    @Thor thanks! 60C seems like the magic temp will have to give it a try. Enjoy your pair of hot pants!  😉

                      Got myself a pair of these - thanks Chris. The fit is ideal in the leg (which is a good achievement for me as previous pairs of 777s that I’ve tried have been too tight/narrow) but perhaps a little big in the top block, eg waist/hips/bum. We’re talking maybe 0.5”. Nothing major.

                      Thor washed them on 40 degrees. If I try 60, is there anything I need to consider beforehand?

                          Yes, that’d be the plan. I was thinking more along the lines of any advice on length of wash, spin, jeans inside-out? Etc.

                            @going_to_battle a few things to consider, yes. Heat and movement are what you need for shrinkage. You’ll get a little more from 60C but you need to be careful with agitation. Machine spin works but also carries the risk of leaving abrasion lines. Everything will shrink proportionally.

                            If you want to be as safe as possible then do a bath tub soak. Get the water as hot as you can from the tap, fill with boiled water if necessary. Then swish them around vigorously a couple of times before straightening them in the water again. I’d give it more than an hour, less than two.

                            Alternatively, soak very hot for an hour, then machine wash at 60C with 400rpm spin. Put them in the machine wet from the soak.

                            Bare in mind that the legs will also shrink in length and breadth.

                              Amazing, thank you so much Reuben. That’s exactly what I needed.

                              I’ll avoid the tumble drier as I don’t want the white marks that I know it can leave in the denim.

                              I think I’ll try a hot bath soak (with added boiling water) followed by a 60C machine wash. I’ve taken measurements beforehand so it’ll be interesting to see the results.

                                Update…

                                My jeans are currently lying flat in a bath tub under a few inches of VERY hot water (so hot I couldn't swish them around for long - I nearly had to put on a pair of marigolds!).

                                I've set the timer for 1 hour 20 minutes, then I'll put them in the washing machine at 60 degrees centigrade with a low rpm spin. Or would it be better to have no spin at all?

                                I'm enjoying the challenge. If they don't shrink much after this, then they are truly indestructible.

                                  I followed up the hot soak with a 60C machine wash on 400rpm with no spin cycle.

                                  I left the jeans to dry for 24 hours and here are the results….

                                  The waist (which is listed at 35.5" according to IH's measurements) shrank from 34.5" to 33.5". Having worn them all afternoon, I feel like they're probably now somewhere between the two measurements.

                                  Some measurements stayed the same (e.g. front rise) but the back rise shrank by 0.75", the thigh by 0.5", the knee by 0.25", and the inseam by 0.75". None of this is a problem (in fact, quite desirable).

                                  All in all, it was a worthwhile exercise as they now fit me better  🙂  Thanks to Reuben and Chris for their advice.

                                            I am newbie. Got my first IH 777 25oz at a rate of 34/36. My height is 186 cm. And weight is 83-84 kg. After the first fitting, I was a little disappointed. Jeans at the knees seem too narrow. Please tell me. I should worry that jeans will not stretch. Thanks in advance for any response.

                                            Я новичок. Получил свои первые IH 777 25oz в размере 34/36. Мои рост 186 см. и вес 83-84 кг. После первой примерки немного разочаровался. Джинсы в коленях кажутся слишком узкими. Подскажите, пожалуйста. Мне стоит переживать, что джинсы не растянутся. Заранее спасибо за любой ответ.

                                            Да и еще вопрос. Как вставлять фото.
