The knife is awesome and it made me fall in love with mother-of-pearl, which is impossible to photograph well unfortunately.

That’s very classy.  That’s the kind of knife you pull out at a dinner party when someone asks you to cut something and they’re like “Whaaaat?!?!” and you’re like “This old thing?  I scrape paint with this.”

What kind of dinner parties do you go to?

I call them dinner parties.  I've also heard them referred to as "AA Meetings."  Potato - Pot_a_to…

In the spirit of sharing, I’ve been going through my knife box and pulled out these two little cutters by Fred Perrin. I am a big fan of his knives because of their performance, simplicity, and value. His knives are a bargain in the world of customs and he is a generally nice guy to deal with. That being said, I’d be pretty scared if he ever got pissed off [emoji15]

Maybe of interest to followers if this thread. My wife’s cousin lives outside of Alesund in the south west of Norway and taught himself knife-making three years ago. He’s making some interesting stuff…

                  Very nice!

I’d bet a case of beer there will be civil unrest…

I know violence is not the answer, I got it wrong on purpose

Cant remember if I shared this one but here it is again. The Gambler’s Vest Bowie by Craig Camerer with a coffin handle, damascus fittings, and a W2 blade with hamon.

Got my first spyderco recently, UKPK. Also featured is a black fox bean and A Wright. UK legal carry requires slip joint, under 3 inch cutting blade, non threatening appearance, and a police officer that interprets the law liberally!

Going through some spring cleaning over the weekend and got reacquainted with this beauty. For background, Jimmy Lile was a US-based knifemaker who was asked by Sylvester Stallone to make the knives for the first two Rambo films. This is the 1st version from the movie First Blood.

Jimmy made 13 of the original and half of those went to Stallone. The remainder are in private collections and run about $50k each. This version is Jimmy's design but made in partnership with custom knifemaker Vince Ford in a 100-piece run.

I'm going to reverse my stance when it comes to automatic knives, specifically OTF knives.
The conversation here spurred me to bring up while catching up with some friends that have either worked or work in law enforcement if an auto knife is good for self defense.
They brought up a good point, when you're getting pounded on or trying to retain your weapon, pulling out a pocketknife, putting your thumb on a thumbstud or index finger on a flipper, flipping out the knife and THEN having to readjust your grip is tough. According to them, there's a pretty high chance of dropping the knife. Having an auto you wouldn't have to adjust your grip. With that being said, they say a fixed blade is best.
Giving the Microtech Dirac a try after those conversations.
