In Venice (which is/was just around the corner from where I live, about 3 hours) people start drinking a glas of wine very early in the morning. It's a very small glas about 100ml (= un'ombra) only and only one in each bar… then they move to the next bar... until it's time for lunch 

= Come on, let's have a small glas of wine.

It's really fun… they as well have those tiny mouth-watering snacks (=Ciccetti) there. You can spend a whole Sunday morning with that... and after lunch...
