We watch 'I don't feel at home in this world anymore' … Hilariously dark and funny. @den1mhead this is another one you might appreciate!

Saw that a year or so ago. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I reckon the movie, It Comes At Night, sets the tone for the current pandemic. Next thing you know we’ll be wearing gas masks.

Any other dystopian films you watching?

You know, the other day I was thinking how this whole COVID-19 thing reminds me of that Netflix movie Bird Box in that the virus is this invisible thing lurking outside of your home just waiting to get you.

Haven’t seen Bird Box but will eventually. Films about the apocalypse must’ve surged in popularity recently. I still think John Carpenter’s The Thing also captures the paranoia of not knowing who is infected.

Nope, it's all about Tiger King right now … 😛

Finally watched BLACK PANTHER. Didn't know it was a Marvel flick… Definitely one of the best though... This thing is as vibrating, smart, loud and sexy as most of the ladies featured... In stark contrast of ANT-MAN AND THE WASP which was awful, almost everyone was miscasted, and was as much fun as a republican congress (and even whiter).

It was mainly ruined for me by PAUL RUDD though. Just can't stand him. It's dumb, I know, but still…

My son and I watched the original Planet of the Apes movie last night and he was not a fan [emoji23] Maybe it was the ending of the film that bugged him or that Landon was lobotomized by the apes or even the old school fx. Of course, PotA isn’t exactly a child friendly film which didn’t help.

Can any of you recommend grown up films that kids might like? My son likes the Transformers movies, but he’s grown up on a steady diet of Transformers cartoons which helped.

We do know that is accepted widely now that certain Hollywood directors have created cinema to prep the general public for widescale societal developments right? Cinema usually fixates on a theme for 20 years before moving on to it's next theme. Governments have used it as a key tool for a long time.

1950s to 70s it was space travel/aliens/advances in technology
1980s to 2000s it was global terrorism and the 'war' on terror (Rambo III was one of the first big Hollywood movies to identify the Middle East as the next global enemy, usurping the Russians and the end of the cold War)
2000s to current epidemics, viruses, widespread public death and disease (with a revision of the zombie archetype).

I wonder what will next? The new utopian age of aquarius and the dawning of the new hippie age? Or maybe not.

Going against my own 'I don't do comic book films' we watched Atomic Blonde. Really enjoyed it, for more reason than simply that Charlize Theron is very attractive  😛

Extraction (Netflix original) was actually very good. It is difficult to make a 'saving a kidnapped kid from the baddies' film original now as it is such an overused premise, but this is. Great car chases, original set pieces, insane body count, and characters play against type. Set in India and Bangladesh, which again is unusual.

Chris Hemsworth was good as the lead, and pleasing to my wife's eye.

Agreed @Stuart.T . We watched it last night, although I didn't see the end as I fell asleep.

This is the next watch for me, the wife won't be interested, so it will be laptop and headphones.

Watched JoJo Rabbit last night.  A very good film.  It's pretty tough to go wrong with a movie that makes fun of Nazi's for the entirety of the show but this one really nails it.
