Ok, time to revive this thread. Can anyone tell me anything about Skull jeans these days? I read they went through some changes some years back and that the new cotton being used wasn't to the liking of many. Also heard SE stopped selling Skull for some reason. I ask all this as I'm in the hunt for a slim jean with taper and the 5507xx 6x6 may be the one i've been looking for. Seen some fit pics on Fuk and they look perfect. Is the quality still there? Beautiful Freak: love those Skulls you've posted photos for, how did you get on with them in the end?

I am happy with that pair. It's a bit slim in the top block but works. With hindsight the 5507 would have been better though
The quality is great. Up there with the other Japanese brands. Since Benny from Take5 is involved you can trust the quality. -

I'm a big fan of Skull. From my experience I can totally vouch for the quality of denim and great cuts. The denim did change at some point, but its no better or worse than before, just different. I don't know what went on behind the scenes a couple of years ago, but it seems the brand was verbally bashed by some people for personal reasons.
Regarding construction, they use an all cotton thread which has a reputation for wearing/breaking more than some brands. However the actual quality of craftsmanship is great on my pairs. If you can accept that the seams may need the occasional bit of TLC, you're onto a winner!
And if you buy from BIG, ask about the red tab

My Skull 5507xx at 259 days of wear, several washes and not always intentional soaks. This is one of my favorite non IH cuts, I really like how they fit me. I picked these up for cheap when BiG stopped carrying them and had them on super sale. A worthwhile investment, though the brand is certainly no where as popular or well regarded as it once was. May not even exist anymore? Their website doesn’t appear to be working…

Those look great on you. I was always really intrigued by Skull but never bought a pair. Like you, I’m not sure they’ve survived [emoji53]

@Anesthetist thank you! Best option is probably to go to the secondary market. Depending on size, you may be able to find a minimally worn pair for pretty cheap.

Skulls are deffo among the coolest, sexiest, and most underrated serious denim brands out there. @neversummer your pics are very much in proof of this, I like the older ones from your February post especially.

Tried to get a pair from Hinoya, but no luck. Next time I am in Tokyo I try to find Bears, there is no JR Station near Bears, but I think we rent some bicycles and yeah…

More photos at 352 days with a raw unworn pair of 5010xx for contrast. Gonna get these to a full year, then focus on something else until the TCB contest on SUFU starts in September.
