And cheesy… Using loads of 80'ies references, sounds, creatures... Copying STRANGER THINGS basically... Or just going back to its roots...

I know nowt about STAR WARS, neither its (hi)story or characters so I'm probably missing some big references though...

By the time Mr. Robot is said and done in four episodes I think it has a chance to surpass Breaking Bad in my canon of all-time favorites.

SPOILER: It's hard to imagine where the show goes from here, with what was set up as denouement having seemingly occurred with four episodes remaining.

      Think it, be it.

Jody and I are enjoying The Mandalorian. A couple of the episodes are drawing heavily from other genres. There is a very spaghetti western vibe from the first couple episodes and the last one drew heavily from the 7 Samurai.
NB: Jody is a giant Star Wars nerd and I'll watch anything where people get shot in the face

I was a able to sit through The Walking Dead, which I otherwise find to be horribly bad TV, just on the strength of the zombie head shots.

I watched the first season of this when I was on daddy leave a year or two ago. I really wanted to enjoy it but failed to. I assume it improved as despite the promising cast and premise I struggled to finish the season because of what I found to be poor writing and pacing.

It's not for you, then…. the writing IMO is brilliant and things that we set up in S1 have come full circle in the seasons following--there was always a method to the madness.

The shocking thing is that USA continued to support the show and Esmail's latitude with the ratings that the show has had. The artistic payoff will be epic, but seems like all USA gets out of the deal is some artistic credibility. Perhaps they're hoping to make money on serialization or other things.

              Think it, be it.

How can you tell they've been shot in the face when their entire body disintegrates after he shoots them?

(For the record, full body disintegration is even more entertaining than head shots, imo)

He shoots them in the face with the pistol, only the single shot rifle vaporizes them. Their clothes flying up in the air after being vaporized is a nice touch.

Did you notice the rifle went from single shot to semi auto in the last episode?

Not until you mentioned it, no.  😃

On a different note, we started watching season 2 of Jack Ryan.  Only three episodes in, but enjoying it so far, despite the unrealistic aspects, like the lack of foreign policy fallout from a sitting US senator and his security detail getting gunned down in the street…

                          Gotten any further?

Season 2 definitely focused more on action. I think they went a little over the top with that. I get Jack Ryan is supposed to be a vet, but he's a little TOO well trained. He does some stuff that's a little advanced for his supposed skill set.

No Abby Cornish in Season 2 either… 😠

Ever since the reboot it's been too much of the same old TWD. I didn't bother watching the most recent season.

I’ve found that with popular tv shows 5 seasons is usually enough, provided the writing is good and there’s closure to the story. TWD is one of those shows that started out great (except season 2) and now refuses to die. I absolutely love the character arcs but the plots have now become a bit formulaic and predictable.

Totally agree. It's rare that a show maintains quality past that point.  I wish there was more willingness by networks to plan for an end, rather than riding a show until everyone just collapses from exhaustion.
