First episode of Watchmen done last night. Promising. Just as unsettling and brutal as the book and very interesting to see what they are doing with the source material.
I loved the book! Even though most didn't care for the movie, I thought it did a pretty damn great job, especially in casting and set design.

It did just launch, in Norway at least. On HBO here.
The film had a lot going for it including the aspects you mention. One problem for me was that while it looked great and had some wonderful detail from the book, it was lacking in the atmosphere. Not enough existential dread. That would have been one thing but when they then changed the ending (no spoilers) in the way they did it became too sterile for me.
No way that is going to happen with the tv show. It literally rained alien squid in the first episode

Finally finished Strangers Things S2 and liked it. I thought the Aliens references were cool and the fact that this show is set in the 80's is awesome. Ironically enough, I was 12 in 1984 which is about the age group of the characters in the show. Man I miss the 80's

By the time Mr. Robot is said and done in four episodes I think it has a chance to surpass Breaking Bad in my canon of all-time favorites.
SPOILER: It's hard to imagine where the show goes from here, with what was set up as denouement having seemingly occurred with four episodes remaining.

Jody and I are enjoying The Mandalorian. A couple of the episodes are drawing heavily from other genres. There is a very spaghetti western vibe from the first couple episodes and the last one drew heavily from the 7 Samurai.
NB: Jody is a giant Star Wars nerd and I'll watch anything where people get shot in the face -

I watched the first season of this when I was on daddy leave a year or two ago. I really wanted to enjoy it but failed to. I assume it improved as despite the promising cast and premise I struggled to finish the season because of what I found to be poor writing and pacing.
