@neph93 Just curious as to what degree the bourbon barrel flavor is present in that beer. Even though I love bourbon, sometimes the barrel flavor can be overbearing. I have a beer that was aged in Woodford Reserve barrels for a year and I can’t drink it. Hoping that cellaring it will mellow it out a bit.

I get the impression that the base for this is already spectacular. It seems full and round with a lot of taste. There isn’t a lot of bourbon or booziness and the acidity is surprisingly low. But there is a lot of wood/oak. It has a slightly bitter, charcoal finish that is very pleasing and different.

                Edit:
For clarity, it was very rich, very tasty, complex yet balanced, and enormously drinkable for a nearly 14% abv beer.

Sounds really good/delicious. Wish they could tell you what bourbon was in the barrel, before they put the stout in. Not sure it really matters in the long run,but being geeky about this sort of thing I enjoy having the info.

Same. It occurred to me they might not have the rights to use the brand name of the bourbon in question on the labelling.

Ever try anything by http://www.eagleparkbrewing.com/ ?

I haven't… yet. I found out about them recently. They've only been in business for a couple of years, operate primarily by word of mouth, and have no distribution. I'm planning to drop by their taproom, soon. I may go during my upcoming leg of the OD type III world tour. I really want to try the Live And Let Chai Porter.

I wonder how difficult it would be for them to get distro? The Brewing Project stuff can be easily found in the Twin Cities so Eagle Park should theoretically be able to. Or, they could invest in their own fleet of pimped out vans and deliver themselves, like Drekker.

There’s a brewery here called 12 Eyes Brewing that just went out of business. They mainly did the taproom thing and put out some crowlers but that’s it. My guess is that because they didn’t release a ton of beers through Liquor stores they couldn’t sustain themselves. I hope that doesn’t happen to eagle park

I'm only assuming, but, the fact they are barely beyond infancy has them taking baby steps. They do food, as well. So, they're not trying to make it on beer alone. More of a brew pub. They are likely putting their own twist on a concept that works well here. There is a local establishment, Water Street Brewery, that has been around since 1987. They've now got 4 locations around the area, featuring far more pedestrian beer offerings. It seems, Eagle Park is taking the next step, and upping the ante.

Eagle Park does package a couple of beers at a time, for retail sale, which can be purchased in store. As time goes on, if demand dictates, I'm sure they'll consider larger scale production and distribution.

Too much so for me. But I have a bottle or two left so might try it again.

Drekker is releasing this new beer but i'm not sure what to think. Sours are ok but I tend to lean towards IPA's more than anything. The flavors look interesting too so i'm curious.
