My phone changed “facism” to “racism” in my post. Changed back now.
Spelczech is the worst.

The Sisters Brothers-oddball western with John Riley & Joaquin Phoenix -a bit overlong and I could do without the philosophizing but I'm a sucker for westerns.
-
^ I was wondering if this one was worth a watch. I rarely watch movies these days but am also a sucker for Westerns.

A star is born was great. Heart breaking and great.

Projector went out on us with 20 minutes left at the theater, and I still haven't watched the ending (but know what happens in general terms). I really enjoyed it until that point.

Oh. My. God. The Stupid. It BURNS!
On Netflix, the documentary "Behind the Curve," about flat-earthers. People who somehow think it's easier to believe that there's been a "global" conspiracy I guess since the ancient Greeks, who figured out not only that the earth is a sphere, but Eratosthenes actually computed its circumference… what, 3,000 years ago? All they had to do was see how ships disappeared over horizons, or note that the earth's shadow on the moon always had curvature, to have the hypothesis that they later affirmed through experiments. In short, they believed their eyes (which can be dangerous, admittedly, but certainly not if you then verify what you think you see through experimentation).
Some highlights included (in white font in case these are spoilers):
-
one of their women complaining about how various lunatics in the movement harbor these insane conspiracy theories about her, including that she's a CIA asset, because her name is PatriCIA, and then almost achieving self-awareness when she wonders aloud if her beliefs are similarly ridiculous before dismissing the uncomfortable notion out of hand for no particular reason.
-
very poorly-constructed experiment to measure the "supposed" curvature of the earth over a mere 3 miles using a laser and sticks, not understanding tangents in their expected results or laser diffraction in the execution.
-
the same idiot who conducted the failed experiment above casually swinging a 3 megawatt laser beam into freeway traffic, which could easily have blinded a driver and caused a devastating accident.
-
an experiment that had a sound design, and into which some fool invested $20,000 to buy a laser gyroscope, that not only fulfilled the prediction of a spherical rotating earth, but predicted one that rotates 15 degrees an hour, yielding one rotation per 24 hours. They not only disproved themselves, they proved that standing science is exactly correct. This result was cast out, of course, because it didn't meet their conclusion (starting with the conclusion and working backwards to support it by these supposed scientists is science in reverse).
The main dude in the film is a bit of a Messiah to his dumb-ass followers, which was also maddening, as you could tell he absolutely basked in their unwarranted attention.
Infuriating that people this stupid and incapable of assessing reality from facts exist. A stunning demonstration of Dunning-Kruger and a remarkable sort of inversion of Occam's Razor that makes me give up all hope in our species.
And these folks religiously vote.

The Dead Don't Die. Probably the greatest cast ever assembled for a zombie movie.
Haha I came to post this.
-
Zombieland was great. And I don't even especially like zombie movies.

Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse - 8/10
I would've given it a higher rating but the disc I rented from Redbox was scratched to hell so there were parts of the movie I had to skip over
But, I liked the parts I did see. The animation style was visually interesting and the story was good.

My daughter really liked the movie, so we re-watched ita couple of nights ago. I still love it, even after multiple viewings.
We also watched Aquaman, which was really, really dumb, but kinda fun.
