      @Handlebars:

      I've already got a Hamilton Khaki in my sights for my next purchase. I just can't do cheap hobbies  😃

      That is pretty much why I still don’t own a watch. I’ve spent hours and hours perving over them on the internet and considering options but I know as soon as I go for one a new Pandora’s box will be opened.

      I know what you mean but I think you just had to find that one watch that suits you perfectly and you can be very happy with owning just that one. My first serious watch was a Rolex Explorer I, I still think the most ageless watch one can get. It took me almost a year to scrape the money to buy it spending many times staring at it through the the shop-window. It's been a great companion for many years not thinking about any other watch…

      God has blessed you richly, so get down on your knees and thank him. Don’t forget the less fortunate or God will personally kick your ass. I’d love to do it for him, but I can’t be everywhere. Willie Nelson

        That is an interesting point @Chap  There has certainly ended up being an element of perfectionism in my search for a watch. Maybe I just haven’t found “the one” yet?

          That Victorinox has a reputation of being pretty indestructible. Nice pick up.

              Trying to get into the watch game. Victorinox don't get many mentions but I like the brand and the INOX seems very Iron Heart-ey. Plus the red face is unique. The only problem is that it's 13.6mm tall which is proving difficult to wear with UHF sleeves.

              I have a watch that is almost 16mm thick. I tend to fold uhf sleeve cuffs in half on my watch hand, works well.

              Think it, be it.

                      Same here. I even push up the sleeves on long sleeve T-shirts because of my wrist anxiety.

                      There is a second issue with tall watches to consider, neph.  If you're clumsy, like I am, then you'll often be banging your watch into door frames, counters, chairs, basically everything.  Just something to keep in mind during your search…

                        The red dial on that Victorinox is nice, @Handlebars.  I meant to say so earlier; the INOX series seems like a solid bang for the buck.

                            They have the other (PADI) version of my SUN019 GMT dive watch (which I call Big Ugly) for $350 with a code, among other deals. The PADI GMT has a quick-set hour hand ("true GMT"), which I think is pretty rare this side of Grand Seiko, Rolex, and Omega, and very handy for changing time zones or "springing forward" as many of us just had to do.

                              As I’m in something resembling civilisation (Liverpool) I actually got to try on a couple of watches that I’ve liked the look of on the internet. Two Hamiltons:

                              I was slightly surprised to find that I think they’re both a little big. Also the olive automatic, which has been an on screen favourite looked a little cheap irl. The other is perhaps is the same as the one you had for sale @UnTucked ?

                                      This one was a 42mm as was the olive field watch. They come in a variety of dimensions.

                                      I din’t think these are too big, but I’d like them smaller, like 38-40mm.

                                          @neph93 the lugs don't extend past the sides of your girlie wrists, so I think that you'd be fine with a 42 mm. You'd get used to the size after a few days.

                                          But a 38 mm would work too, and if you prefer that size, go for it.
