We "needed" a new tv for our living room, so Julie found a good deal on one at Target. Since it's, um, large, we opted for the free delivery. Target subcontracted delivery to a company called EFW. EFW sent us an email, describing delivery procedure and setting a delivery date- December 10 at 6 pm.
They didn't show up. We called the phone number and a message said the office was closed, due to inclement weather, and it then hung up.
Yesterday, Julie called again. This time, the message informed her that she was 281 in the call waiting queue, and since she has a life, she decided not to wait. (Still no delivery, obviously)
Today, Julie called Target, who informed her that (as far as they know) EFW is still closed, due to extreme weather, and that they don't know when we will receive our delivery.
I have no idea where in the US the weather is so bad that businesses have been closed all week, though it certainly isn't here in Texas. I'm beginning to suspect that someone got a truckload of flat screen tvs for Christmas.
I'm also beginning to suspect that someone at Target better update their resume, because this does not look good for them…

Remember the Target data breach in 2013? Gregg Steinhafel got a fat severance package for that cluster f*ck. Unlikely heads will roll over undelivered tv's. I'd demand a refund

Funny you should say that. One of them has been having trouble giving away his fortune!

@Filthy:
Has anyone here ever been to Nigeria? I just got word that I am to go there in January…
A couple of friends are Nigerian, and I can ask them if there's anything you need to know.
I was just basically wondering of it is a dangerous place to go to. I have a meeting with the company Monday and I guess I can ask them.

I'd check with the US State Department about travel advisories and current political climate

Boko haram sounds fun.

Anyone tried Mack Weldon tech cashmere? I got a set on the way. I know their 18 hour knit underwear is pretty great. It feels pretty luxurious under a pair of Iron Heart jeans…
I was happy to see they shipped my order within one hour of ordering. I like the navy heather color too.

@Dion maybe this would suit you better? https://www.bauhutte.jp/product/hfd_4g/

I've got a feeling that kidnapping is a big risk, particularly if you're seen as being a rich foreigner.
A couple we know went back to Nigeria at the beginning of the year to get married, and the groom's cousin was snatched. Fortunately they got him back in one piece.

I have been to Lagos, not in a hurry to get back.
The main thing is to only eat at hotel restaurants and not wander the streets after dark - it wasn’t much fun but it didn’t appear dangerous in the daytime when sticking to the ”business areas”.
Context: I’v been living in Jakarta which for many is awful but I really enjoy as it still has that sort of an untamed frontier-town feeling to it; anything might happen on any given day and very often does. In Jakarta not many things work but Lagos seemed like thatˆ2 and the atmosphere was altogether much more sinister.
