      Hmmmmm

If this ever gets made let's hope Sir Ridley doesn't make a mess of this one too  ???

      Yuck.

And what's the author hemming and hawing about with the jockey? Isn't it the lone engineer that sits in that seat, to then fly the ship, before he crashes at the end of Prometheus?

What is with the android lore with him anyways.

He discredited the queen too, because he has an android making the aliens…..

        ::)

Hope the next installment gets green-lighted. Covenant started off full of promise with some neat scenes, only to turn into absolute garbage not long after they reached the planet. 😞

I'd still like this story to continue.

I think making sequels and prequels to films first screened 30-40 years ago is always risky. The audience and cinema generally have changed hugely in that time, and just like when a music artist covers a favourite classic, most prefer the original but some new listeners will prefer the cover.

That said, I can't recall ever watching a prequel that I enjoyed more than the original. Could be wrong.

Agree on Ridley discrediting the queen. But, I recall there being a deleted scene from Alien where Dallas is taken by the xeno and is cocooned. This scene implied that hosts can be turned into eggs. Either way, having a queen laying eggs is a better idea imo

True, good point and nice addition with the director cut of the original Alien, in regards to Dallas.

Notice how we still remember the characters names for the good movies in the series??

My issues with the prequels is the lack of character development and a coherent script. You didn’t care if the characters died and the existential bs was a little interesting but ultimately ruined the mystery of the xenos and engineers. It’s lazy storytelling imo. Ridley should’ve let someone else carry on the franchise just like the path Disney has taken with the Star Wars films

I've watched all the Harry Potter movies lately and I can say they're nice entertainment despite being partly cringy.

I hadn't seen one of 'm but decided to give 'm a go after reading a review for the new FANTASTIC BEASTS flick… I like 'm... Now watching THE GOBLET OF FIRE... But definitely looking forward to the DEATHLY HALLOWS two-parter...

Atta boy @Seul The movies get better and better as they go. And the last few are very good. I read the books and it helped me appreciate The movies more.

                          Maybe so. Maybe not

I really wanted to like the prequel but it felt like an imitation of the first. Plus, they mucked it up with silly cgi rather than sticking with practical fx.

Hard to believe The Thing was a box office flop back in '82. Nowadays it's considered one of the benchmarks by which all horror films are measured imo. Practical fx aside, I really love the minimalism and paranoia amongst the characters.

Right–it's an excellent psychological thriller. Reminds me of the ambiguity around Deckard's status as either a human or a replicant in "Blade Runner," difficult to know who is human and who is an alien replicant.
