Hey, all, I bought a pair of 634s' maybe 12 or 13 years ago and decided they were too loose for me. Ended up returning them and got a different model, a pair of 461s that I still have to this day. (Very special pair to me since Giles had them made with silver rivets, incl. a crotch rivet, and had them hemmed in Japan since he just happened to be there at the time.)

But now I kind of want to look into 634s again and notice that they seem like they are cut a tiny bit slimmer. I have a pair of 666s and of course they don't seem that slim, but maybe a little slimmer.

Am I just seeing it that way and they are cut the exact same way they were 10+ years ago or are they, indeed, actually cut a tiny bit slimmer?

      Me.

@Thumbdisk  different iterations and batches of the 634 have slightly different measurements but I don’t think Haraki-san has  deliberately changed the cut otherwise. It remains a straight cut with a very slight taper and wider than the 666.

In fact @theorocks is demonstrating an nailed on 634 fit right here. Looking good buddy.

@Thumbdisk Same I think. I have 3 or 4 pairs from different time periods going back 8 years and all seem the same to me.

I found that they start to look kinda a touch baggy / loose at tag 33 or bigger but 32 or less looks good IMO

I keep coming back to these - was considering taking them in for a taper, but starting to get more comfortable with the straight cut as time goes on. Pretty sure I’m going to keep them as is

Thanks man! Just taking some getting used to in comparison to my 888s… at moments, I feel like I’m rocking bell bottoms!

I totally understand. The hem on the 634 isn’t something a that lines up with current trends. But there’s always room for the classics, not least when you wear them right.

I'm trying to buy one of the 21 essential jeans. If you had to pick one pair, would it be this one or one of the others from the 21 collection? I own a samurai jeans that are 25 oz so I don't know if I need another pair of those. Just looking for something that would be considered Iron Heart classics.

These. The original denim in the original fit, and still the best jeans Iron Heart makes, imo.

Hey guys, wanted to get thoughts on the fit of my 634s tag 34.  Brand new out of the bag, they seem to fit great and the waist is perfect, which leads to my question. I’ve read plenty about 1” stretch on the 21 oz and worried they might stretch out too much. What do you think of the fit? Adam said these were the “biggest” tag 34 waist measuring 34.5 (I was thinking I needed closer to 35.5 after stretch so we went with this pair).

It’s my first IH pair. Should I Size down to allow for some stretch, send them back for a “smaller” 34, or just rock them?

                                  Thanks in advance!

That looks like a great fit. I suspect that if you sized down to w33 they’ll get a little tight around the thighs. A smaller w34 may help you avoid too big a waist but it’s a marginal thing and may not be worth it. I’d say wear a belt and live with the stretch you get.

I think that fit is pretty perfect.  They will stretch if you decide to go down, but I personally don’t like my thighs restricted.  I think you nailed it.

I dont think 634S can get any better than this. If you wanted a slimmer cut, then you should look for a different cut rather than sizing this down.

From my experience it stretches out a lot only if its too tight. When I purchased mine, waist was 34 which stretched close to 35.5 after 2 months use, but now I lost weight and wear a belt so after repeated washes it is now 34.5. It just molds to your requirements and looks perfect to start with.
