LA CASA DE PAPEL (Money Heist)…
Currently watching the second episode... I always find it slightly harder to connect with a show if I don't know what's being said, and have to rely on (English) subs... But I'm sensing that I'll be addicted to this filo de puta in no time...
Netflix has it with the dialog dubbed in English, if you're crafty…
-
I won't claim it's good- they're both imperfect solutions. Dubs seem to work better when there's a lot of dialog, I think.
Oh, and I'm only about 20-30 minutes in, but Casa de Papel is solid. Good call.

Coolest thing is at the end… Theme song of UTOPIA!!!

Still gutted that was cancelled btw... And the planned US remake doesn't interest me at all...

^Yeah that was some good stuff…
THE VIETNAM WAR and THE CIVIL WAR - both multi-ep documentaries by KEN BURNS... Titles might clue you in as to what they're about... The first one aired in 2017-2018, the latter's from 1990... World class material...
Downloaded The Vietnam War yesterday…..

Turn up the volume, grab a bottle of hand lotion and a box of Kleenex, and strap in…
Over sharing as usual

NORM MACDONALD HAS A SHOW - now, first things first… I watched COMEDIANS IN CARS DRINKING COFFEE S10... Jerry makes a lot of cringe-worthy comments... Basically: old white guy who's out of touch with reality kind of comments... Norm keeps politics out of his show, but it's no secret that he's a republican and recently kind of/ kind of didn't back Louis CK and Roseanne... He was backpaddling so hard he's now 25 again...
So, why is this important?.. On a forum that tries to avoid politics?.. It isn't... But I'm ALL about politics... I will not support, trust, or agree with anyone that is anything but a bleedin' communist (as they'd put it)
That being said: Norm's humour is absolutely fantastic and there are some outrageously good lines in there... So download the show and don't urm show him any support
PARTS UNKNOWN: oh I'm way behind… It actually took Bourdain to die before I checked this out... But it's a stunning show, and I like him as well... The energy, love for food, the love for LIFE; it's magnetising...

@Seul thank you for that well written, thoughtful write up. I don’t think I’ll be supporting him…. just yet.
Parts unknown is fantastic. I envy you that you get to Watch it for the first time. I tried watching some episodes of his shows a few weeks back but it made me upset. The grief of the loss is still too near I guess.
And back to Norm... f him. He’s a bit of a narcissist. I reckon he’d prefer to suck himself off if he could reach.

Just finished Jack Ryan. I was never a huge fan of the books, so I didn't have a lot of preconceived notions, which probably helped, so I thought it was pretty solid. Fairly well rounded characters and some genuinely tense moments. Obviously, some unbelievable action hero bits, and I'm ambivalent about John Krasinski in the title role, but overall, an enjoyable series. I especially liked that Amazon didn't feel the need to bloat the episode count, like Netflix does.
-
I've only seen John Krasinski in 2 films, 13 hours and A Quiet Place. I've grown to like him as an actor despite my association of him in The Office (which I never watched).
-
I just thought it was bland and nowhere near the quality of the books
-
This is the only thing I've seen Krasinski in besides The Office. That said, I don't have any of those, "Look! It's Jim from The Office!" type problems with him. He seems like a decent actor; there's just something about seeing this jacked 6'3" dude wandering around perpetually saying, "I'm just an analyst" that seems off. Maybe it would be more believable if he still looked and dressed like Jim…

It is. It gutted me when he died. I still haven’t watched an episode since. He just seemed to be such a genuine human being who really had life figured out in every sense of the word, who knew how to live and was living life to the fullest. It really shook me to hear that he took his own life. It didn’t seem possible that someone living the life he seemed to be living could find himself in such a dark place. Depression is a horrible, horrible disease.

Just started Ozark. Liking it so far
