Thats a poor showing by them.  The job interview process is so formal. The interviewer requires such a high level of formality from the interviewee. And then they break from that formality by not giving you an answer in a timely fashion or with enough information  to keep that formality that they have required in the first place. Sorry Graeme. You deserved a proper timely reply

            Maybe so. Maybe not

@Graeme it's bullshit. even if you had a large pool. 3-7 working days should be a professional standard. i understand it may be quite the work thinning out the unwanted. but 3 months. wow.

                Thanks @der Anschiss, @Matty123, and @louisbosco.

The lack of feedback is annoying. I'm continually crashing out of the process on the first round, behavioural interviews that are the current fashion for HR departments. I'm at the high functioning end of the autistic spectrum, and I feel as though these work against me in some way.

It's particularly frustrating when I'm probably more technically competent than a lot of people working in these businesses.

IMO, should work for you with the type of work you do….

@Giles it probably should help in my work, and some companies (such as Microsoft) make an effort to hire people on the spectrum.

The trouble is that HR departments have a rigid idea of what makes a good programmer. As @der Anschiss said, it's typically someone with little idea of what the job involves, but often a pretty rigid idea of what a good programmer looks like. So it's a checkbox ticking exercise to find someone with those characteristics.

The other issue is that the behavioural interview style (that I'm also ranting about) doesn't suit. I'm typically too honest, and I'm not great at social imagination (figuring out what someone else is thinking or reading their emotional state). So a question like, "Tell us about a problem you ran into" won't result in me describing how I single handedly saved a project from disaster. [emoji20]

@Appfaff working at Google would be interesting. Unfortunately my girlfriend doesn't fancy moving to the US.

No big deal.  I didn't really need to pay rent this month…

If you can't fix it with duct tape you are not using enough

If duct tape is not the answer, you asked the wrong question

I usually take the air dams off anyways once I scrape them up. You don’t really need them, your Honda already gets like 367MPG anyways lol [emoji23]

EDIT: or do you mean the entire bumper itself?

An after market part really costs that much? My sideview mirror got clipped a couple months ago by a snowplow and my insurance didn't cover it. Cost me about $25 and some change to get the part. I still have to do it myself though via some youtube videos. Any way you could do it yourself for a fraction of the cost?

Not just the air dam- everything from the headlights down.  From the front, it looks like something out of a Mad Max movie.

I might have been able to buy the part and do the work myself, but there were other, miscellaneous parts that were damaged in the process, or afterwards, when I drove and there was no bumper cover to block the airflow.  Lots of plastic bits rubbed against the wheels, or blew off, or maybe both.

And my wife was not in favor of duct tape on the newer of our two cars.  It might have been different if we had a vehicle where that would match the aesthetic, like, say, a Land Rover Defender.
