I guess my real question is…to make that happen do I need to initiate a whole new custom order and spec it just to the IHTB-BOBRN with a shorter heel or can we take an existing pair that's in stock and make the heel shorter? I have no clue how this works...obviously.

That is a double midsole with a lowered heel and #705 outer sole. Doable with a custom build fo sho.
And quoting pics is fine if there’s a point to it [emoji1417]
Double mid sole….what does that mean again? I'm such a boot noob!
-
That would be it’s own custom order. When you lower the heel that much the whole balance of the boot changes and you need to base it on a different last.
Ok that makes sense.
-
Double layer of leather in the midsole. Compare the IHWE-5 or burlap shorties to the other boots.
Gotcha. I believe I've read a double mid sole is harder to break in? Is that true?
-
I love the profile and look of that boot in the last pic. That's what I'm after.
-
A double mid is one centimeter thick dried cured leather instead of half a cm with a single mid. So it is about twice as hard to break in [emoji1]
If you want that exact profile you will need that build. Even small changes to the heel/sole details will impact the profile a lot. So lowered heel, double mids and #705 sole is what you need.

Worth mentioning that this will be a different build to the IHTB-BOBRN with that sole config. Different midsoles, outer soles and heel. I have a feeling the boot in the picture is on the Boss toe as well. But the leather, buckle, straps and stitching can be the same (as long as they still have brown domain leather [emoji28]). And you can still go with the MP toe if you want. That’s the beauty of a custom build.

You're the man @neph93. Thanks again. Also, to my untrained eye it looks like that boot has the Boss toe instead of the Motor Patrol toe that the IH-BOBRN has?

Ha…indeed.

pardon my interruption but Wesco double-mid-prepare to walk like Frankenstein. For quite a while. ???

Oh? Thats very good info to have. Then why would one want a double mid?

Only my opinion. I don't know. Maybe if you live in the frozen North it's a good idea but to me boots are heavy enough without adding double mids.

A few plausible reasons:
1. The looks - the double mid-sole goes great with #705 half sole and the uninterrupted heel-stack
2. Insulation - something to consider at least for those of us living in the vicinity of the arctic circle
3. Added height - there’s a reason multiple midsoles are popular in Japan etc.

Protection, solidity, strength, durability (and because they look badass [emoji1]) It’s the the same deal as wearing jeans over 20oz, they just need taming. Doesn’t take too long.
To be fair, if you’re not used to Engineers and/or leather midsoles you’ll be walking funny anyway for a while.

The 7400's totally digging these …the winter salt and general wear and tear has the sole..heel worn the brownish colour has worn to a lighter colour . .any remedies? perhaps brown shoe polish ?
I've meaning to give you a heads up but haven't had the time…. Use white vinegar cut have and half with water and bathe the affected areas with it. This will draw out at least some of the salt. repeat a couple of times for best results. The process will also dry the leather out some so have some oil/wax on hand to replenish the midsoles after they've the vinegar solution wash has dried. You can re-paint them afterwards.

Ordered these a few days ago
They should look similar to these but I added a Vibram 2021 sole.
I wear an 11.5D in Aldens & Vibergs. Do you think a 12E will fit? Thanks.
