I really liked living in Stavanger for work, but it was a bit remote scenery wise. Great night life, though. Mind you, my daughter said she'd never seen as many, or as persistent, beggars anywhere in her life as in Bergen. She said they spoiled her stay there, following her about asking for money. Shame that.

There are a huge number of professional beggars from Romania in the country, has been for 4-5 years. Lots of controversy about how to handle it but it’s a local council issue so some towns probably deal better than others. Harassment like that is actually illegal so Bergen probably needs to get a handle on it.
