@tmg I have actually. My grandfather gave me a few of his when he saw me eyeing them about 10 years ago. I tried it a bit, but while the actual act of pipe smoking is enjoyable, there are some downsides.
1. You need a lot of accoutrements, pipe, tobacco, ashtray etc.
2. Packing it takes some practice, too tight and it'll keep going out, too loose and it'll burn up too fast and hot.
3. If you've just smoked a pipe you're supposed to let it cool before reloading. Not sure why this is or if it's even true.So for these reasons I find a cigar to be far more convenient.
