@neph93 thanks man, appreciate that. I really like the last pair of boots. That sole Is a good compromise for me. I went on the boot builder last night and created a grail pair of boots…o it $925 without shipping to UK! That's an expensive mistake if fit is not right. I can see the merit in investing. There's no doubt they are well built boots and would do any job intended of them. I'm still on the fence (when that usually happens I fall off the fence and buy things anyway!).
you could try any Wesco boot from Giles store(off-line or online), check the correct size and fit, return it and then order(from Giles) any custom boot you want in the same size and last. In this case you would minimize the chance of wrong size or fit.
I did the try on boot but the problem was I ended up keeping the try on boots and now I’m thinking of jumping in on one of the 100th anniversary boots. :o

Damn you bastards. Stop taking away any excuses I could use….
This is in the forum membership fine print: “As I was once enabled, so shall I enable thee…”
It says nothing about responsibilities towards other members infinitely better half’s, although there is a thread for that. You seem a thoroughly decent chap however and that thread is a gateway to dark arts and dire deeds...
@neph93 I feel predated. I like it. Show me the way to the darkest precipices of the IH universe.

Ordered my first Wesco boots…. waiting
Congratulations. That is very exciting. Did you go for the IHWE-05?

There’s this less than edifying tale of lies and deception for starters, in which I sadly play a central role…

The arches in my Wescos are killing my feet… so I am attempting to mod them. I took the insoles out cut some 1/2 inch thick plywood using the insole as a pattern on the wood, and added another block to evenly disperse the force of the clamp. I put another block of wood underneath the sole so the clamp wouldn't leave a circular indentation and to evenly disperse the pressure across the sole.
You can see the arch is now flat...
Nice and flat like my feet.

@Filthy, What a good idea and setup. I have a pair of White’s that took a really long time to break in since I have really high arches and under pronate when walking. Since my ankles lean outward the arch ease took quite a while to mold to my foot properly. I thought about using a mallet or something to pound down and flatten the outside arch “shelf” region. Thanks for sharing your setup.

@spacecadet Please let me know if you ever need more detailed instructions. It was cool because the shop guy let me borrow the c-clamps from work, and everything else was free.

I'm trying to determine the size for packer #9109 last. Sports shoes I wear in 8.5D - 9D. There was an opportunity to try the wesco foot patrol (8D).
The foot patrol suits me size 8D. Slight pressure on the thumb because of the narrow toe box.
Can I count on the same size (8D) in #9109 last?
Width and length of the foot patrol match the size (width, length) of #9109 last?

I was waiting for someone who has both lasts to chime in on this. I only have a pair in the standard Jobmaster last but when I was trying to figure out my sizing, I reached out to Kyle at Bakers boots. He told me Wescos sizing convention is not standardized across all of their lasts. He told me I would generally take a half size down in the MP last vs the Jobmaster last. The 9109 last is supposed to run the same as the Jobmaster last FWIW. Hopefully some others can chime in on this.
