Yep - G63 AMG - it was super sharp, most likely owned by one of the young blonde dallas Co-Ed’s doing some post-Christmas shopping.

There are a dime a dozen in DFW. The next day we saw a G65 AMG with the tire case smashed in parked next to us at World of Beer in FW…

Luckily for us, the beer was better than the drivers parking abilities

Sadly not my car. I love G wagons due to their heritage, but they are a bit too opulent for even me. I prefer the GLE63 AMG or the more original
X6M for when I no longer haul around car seats. Oh, and my nearly 20 year old Toyota has been my favorite car I’ve ever owned - and I’ve had a lot of cool stuff over the last half Decade lol [emoji23]

Christmas was hard this year because it was the first year we were unable to hold it at my grandparents home in Indianapolis.

My grandfather  was a pioneering neurosurgeon and they lived in their FLW MMC home for more than 50 years. They passed during my time on the 666SII tour this spring, and the house was sold the day before thanksgiving, so the entire family gathered at my mom And dads in Fort Worth.

During the allocation of the estate, my grandfathers wine collection was dispersed based in taste - my mom got a lot of port as well As the Lynch-Bages and Lafite Rothschilds. We enjoyed this bottle in their memory for holiday dinner

My dad has been collection for about 7 years, but the arrival of the vintage wines from my grandfathers collection encouraged him to turn a part of their basement into a true cellar. Not done yet, but he’s done a great job so far:

      Better photo of the lafite

Hope everyone had a very merry holiday.

Many thanks everyone - I had a great holiday.

Instead of driving back 11 hours with two 2 year olds on Friday, we opted to visit our friends in Houston. It made the drive there about 4.5 hours (plus the unavoidable traffic) and only 8 hours home on Saturday. It was a life saver, but we were all ready to get home after a week away.

Some highlights of our stop in Houston

                Gifts for “the kids” lol

                Avery happy to be home

Yesterday we spent the day cleaning up and clearing some rubbish from 2017.

Still trying to find a place for the xmas haul

                Had donuts this morning

                I’ve had a nagging cough for a week…

My wife Made a breakfast casserole for the adults

                Rocking the ODL

And now getting some work done before it’s back to reality tomorrow

Hope everyone has had a great start to 2018.

Thanks for hanging with me for a few updates this far [emoji41]

I’m hoping to decide which jacket I want after my leg with this bad boy. Idk if I can wait though

                          Maybe so. Maybe not

@Appfaff great start of the tour! Do you know what that rothschild would have cost on the market? Even if i dont know much about wine i think this should be a very expensive one…
Oh and the jacket looks fantastic. Would love to see a fee closeups of the fabric.

Thanks Max - we looked it up for fun, and bottles ranged from $800-$1800 depending on the location of the auction house. We have had some of the other “banner years” before and I will admit to preferring the 1987 and 1992 vintages a little better, but perhaps the complexity that exists in the 85 is why it’s sought after.

EDIT: I’ve found some places that sell it for well under 800 bucks, but usually something is wrong with the label or the cork has completely decayed and a good deal has evaporated. Insane to think the stick on our bottles said $64 lol

I’ll get some more pics of the jacket for sure!

Man, it was so good. I’ll be searching for it in Alabama. I am kicking myself for not getting the rest of the line at HEB when we were in Houston - Pearland had an amazing selection

Honestly, it’s probably lost on me, but then again I think it would be lost on 99% of people. I have a friend who is a sommelier and he geeks out whenever I send him photos of stuff we have found, but I am not educated on wine enough to know much more than common knowledge. I will admit it’s fun to do a little digging and see what’s the story behind the bottles though.

Sounds like we are in similar boats @matty123 - I consider myself of “good taste,” although I would never spend the $$ on a bottle, I thoroughly enjoy when it’s shared making friends and family - good wine, food and beer have always been a focal point of conversation within my family, so it’s nostalgic in a sense.
