Rest in peace Brian Close! Like most others outside England, I came to know about him after seeing a clip on YouTube in which Michael Holding battered him with short stuff aimed at the body.

To face Holding & Co. at the age of 45 with no helmet on, the man had guts.

Thanks Maynard! There are many things one doesn't see anymore. This includes toothpick like bats, camera angle from the wicketkeeper's end, men in their 40s playing international cricket, run-ups that begin near the boundary, and a cricket that scares viewers.

RIP Mr. Close. A fine, brave cricketer indeed.

I can't imagine what it must have been like, standing at the crease, and watching Holding starting his run up in a different postcode, knowing fine well he had no intention of bowling at your stumps!!  :o

              Kudos.

England is inching towards its biggest victory in a long time. Any thoughts? Or do you guys think it might jinx it.

Anyway, I am loving the Ashes a lot more than the Test match my country is playing right now.

That turned out to be true! Anyway, gotta appreciate the enthusiasm of the Barmy Army fans who have bought tickets for the 5th Test.

Has anything been happening in the world of cricket lately (other than England’s shambolic away form in Tests)?!  😉

Luvvly jubbly, what a test! Let’s back this up at Lord’s England. We need to deal with Kohli though, he’s top drawer.

Will you be carrying a placard? Anyway, hope it doesn't rain anymore although the weather forecast says otherwise.

And a Boxing Day Ashes at MCG or any of the famous Australian grounds. Too bad they won't be playing in WACA anymore.
