I enjoyed smoking too. I would honestly never have quit, but there were a number of factors. One, a pack in NY goes for between $12-15 a pack. Two, I'm getting older and I can feel myself slowing down from the smoking. Three, I'm just fucking tired of being a burden on my family by having them wait while I finish my smoke

It takes about a month before withdrawal symptoms are gone

The first week is the worst

That's when I was going cold turkey (I tried this a few times, never got past two weeks)

With the ecigarette, I was "a cranky asshole" according to Jody for the first week, and after that, was back to normal. This is probably because I'm still getting nicotine from the ecig. Though I've gone from 18mg/ml to 12mg/ml in the last couple months, and have no desire to go any lower. I figure I'll be a lifelong smoker, one way or another. If I dose myself at too low a level, I might be tempted to go back to regular cigarettes (analogs as what vapers refer to them)

I've noticed big changes in my health since I stopped smoking analogs

Have been stopping and starting in fits for the last month or so. Have a couple left here that I'm telling myself are it. Once I go to bed, done.

Need to quit to get on with weight-loss plan, save money ($7/pack * 7 days/week…), etc.. - but I enjoy going out too much, and that's inevitably to a bar, where I inevitably have a couple of drinks and then a cigarette. And I spend most of my workday alone, driving from jobsite to jobsite, and smoke too much while doing that.

              sordid smoking history:
Never smoked up through high school - my parents did 'til I was 16 and I hated cigarettes.
Then I started waiting tables the summer before college, started doing E every couple of weeks (mmm, menthol), ramped up to about a pack a day for 2-3 years. Cut down when I left the restaurant industry, but in art school it was still a reinforced habit - on breaks go outside with the smokers. When I dropped out of school and quit going to bars I stopped completely for five and a half or six years.

Picked it up a couple of years back when I started working security in a bar, quit for five months early this year because my girlfriend asked me to, started again when we broke up.

Thanks guys. The move wasn't too stressful (work paid for my relocation expenses) but work is becoming increasingly demanding (long hours). This thing definitely takes the edge off when I have a big wig (think someone who reports directly to the President) is breathing down my neck

Having a support system like Jody is a big plus too

My health has definitely taken an upturn, I can run as fast and as far as I could when I was 22, but you wouldn't be able to tell right now since I'm sick as a dog 😞

Up until recently I had been cutting down, a half pack a day to perhaps a quarter pack. I was real happy with myself. I had been wanting to get into better shape for a while and reach that next plateau in terms of fitness. I'm not out of shape or anything, I just wanted to be healthier and have a little more money in pocket. Anyone who is a smoker and lives in New York knows exactly what I'm talking about. But within the past six weeks though I've not only returned to smoking more, I have also exceeded my amount per day. With it now being a pack to two a day. It's really no excuse but when you find out that your long time girlfriend with whom you live with reveals to you that she has been sleeping with her co worker, you tend to resort vices such as this as McCallan. I only hope that I can break this smoking habit soon enough.

Thanks.  Madame Buttonfly also gave up, but she was more of a social (i.e. with a drink) smoker.  I, on the otherhand,  was a proper smoker, so we are in ths together, but she is getting pissed off with my tetchiness…..........
