Yeah Louis I hear you. The whole appeal for me of the 300PF is that is is barely bigger than the 24-70.  The more portable, the more use it gets.

oh. didn't realise that. not sure the different weight between canon and nikon's same lens. but my everyday is a f2.8 24-70L lens. as it is, it's heavy enough..

Im looking for a recommendation for a camera. it would be my first camera that isnt a standard point and shoot. im interested in photography as a hobby. i would use it to photograph my family and birds, wildlife etc. i would like a camera that i would have to learn to use effectively. i dotn know if that makes any sense. i may take a continuing ed photography class as well

                        Maybe so. Maybe not

I'd go for some second hand Nikon equipment. You can pick up really good deals as new stuff supersedes the older models. Don't know your budget but if you want to shoot wildlife have a look at the DX range of bodies which will extend the focal range of your lenses. I started with a D300, 17-55, and lots of old manual lenses…

@Matty123 I have a Canon EOS 40D body that I could sell you for $150,you would need to buy a lens. It was the flagship for that part of the line back in 2007.If you’re interested PM me as this probably shouldn’t be here.

Nice to see in this Forum a Photograph and Camera-Thread! I do like photography a lot, I just love to be with my dog in the outdoors to photograph, doing sport and just getting the head free.

Right now I am using a Canon 5D MK4 with 3 Canon and 4 Zeiss lenses but I have also the Sony RX100IV in use.

Here are 5 pics I personally like a lot.

                                Cheers!

@Matty123 a recommendation really depends a lot on the price range you looking at.

@Matty123 i've been a fan of the sony a7 range paired with a voigtländer lens. the prime lens makes it good for everyday photography or street photography and the quality is impeccable. the fact that the sony body is a mirrorless full frame as well makes it easy to carry about. compared to an entry level full frame of a 6d. which is bulky but when paired with a good lens like the 24-70 f2.8l lens makes it really heavy to carry everyday.

if you're looking somewhere further down the line, canon's g1x series has always been my go to. had one a few years back and it's easy for someone to start of shooting..

@marlin great shots. always been a fan of the 5D, especially the mk2. my 6d cannot even hold a candle even with the 24-70 f2.8l lens.

i had some of my best years shooting the 5d mk2. maybe it's a nostalgic reason and i understand that in terms of specs the 6d is definitely better seeing it's an improvement over. but using the 5d mk2 just feels really easy to use, especially with the layout of the 5d to the 6d in general. to me the 5d mk2 was an improvement over the mk1 which was the entry level full frame, and now the 6d feels the same way as the mk 1 did back then..

at the end of the day, the camera doesn't really matter much as long as the holder knows where and what to shoot.
