I tried watching Star Wars: A New Hope with my boy the other night and didn't get very far. Usually if it's not cartoon related he quickly loses interest. Didn't help that the version we tried watching was the butchered version with the added cgi Jabba scenes. So glad Lucas isn't making any more Star Wars films

All I want is the theatrical release versions of Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Return Of The Jedi in a remastered, high definition format. I'll gladly give them my money and then go back to ignoring every half-assed, money grubbing POS Lucasfilm has put out since 1984.

This will get you started. It's genius.

Decided to watch It Comes At Night last week. It stars Joel Edgerton and he appears to be channeling his inner Kurt Russell from The Thing. It's a post-apocalypse film about some plaque but is incorrectly advertised as a horror film. Plus, the title of the movie is misleading. The movie was ok but not great.

Watched Trainspotting 2 lastnite and found it meh, other than to cash in on the popularity of the first film. I like Danny Boyle's work and I like the actors but it did nothing for me.

I must have a fondness for watching pointless drivel. I finally saw Transformers: The Last Knight and went in with very low expectations. As such, the movie really did suck, so I didn't feel as bad afterward. But, after watching this movie i'm really starting to suspect that Michael Bey has no concept of storytelling or in keeping with coherent characters. Awful, awful film. ???

Did you realize the submarine scene was filmed in Gosport? My brother worked on the movie as Mark Wahlberg's assistant.
I didn't know that. I was too busy rolling my eyes at the horrible dialogue and the wasted talent of Sir Anthony Hopkins.

You're just now starting to suspect that?

Pain and Gain, and 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi had more coherent plots and characters than the Transformers flicks.
I caught the new Kingsman film last weekend. It's mindless fun, but not as good as the original. The Statesman characters do get some cool threads (in particular the Mister Freedom jacket), and Elton John's extended cameo is great.
I'm looking forward to Blade Runner 2049 next week. The Guardian's review is very positive. Melbourne IMAX is going to give me a free ticket for my birthday, which is next weekend, so I'll be going along to see it on an enormous screen.

So looking forward to seeing it too…it has a hard act to follow though but the trailers and reviews do indeed seem promising. Enjoy Graeme

Kingsman The Golden Circle was a fun way to turn my brain off for two hours. I appreciated they weren't too obnoxious about product placement (as opposed to how the Transformers movies do it). Kingsman has a line with Art of Shaving right now, and if you didn't know in advance, you wouldn't have caught the product placement.
That being said, the new scent that they have with the shaving line really does smell great. Bought a couple sets before I even saw the movie.
