The other thing that I'd like to see would be a major twist to the franchise. For example, what if the Weyland-Yutani Corporation isn't looking to acquire the alien as a bioweapon, but rather as wanting to learn how to exterminate it? If they went from evil to more altruistic, it'd change the existing films.

Ridley would have to further retcon the franchise and that would definitely disrupt the continuity. In Alien, the crew of the Nostromo were considered expendable by Weyland-Yutani

Watched 'Jawbone' a couple of days ago. Dark and gritty British movie, starring Ray Winston. Good movie with a nice score too.

It's brilliant. It doesn't translate that badly to British society as the liberal British middle class share a lot of the double standards with regards to race as the family in the film do.

Watched War for the planet of the apes yesterday. If you liked the first two (which I did), it's definitely more of the same and a fitting end to the trilogy with some nice nods to the originals.

Also watched Spiderman Homecoming…...meh  ::) , and Baby Driver which was very good.

Trailers for Thor and Justice League both have my interest, and will get my money.

I caught Baby Driver last week. I enjoyed it, but it felt like it was trying just a bit too hard.

I also watched It Comes at Night on the same day, which is very much the opposite of that film. It's a very grim story of a family surviving in the aftermath of an apocalyptic pandemic. It's worth seeing.

I enjoyed Spider-man more than @Megatron1505, but it's not really doing anything new with the genre. Marvel Studios feel a bit one note, unfortunately. (I caught the end of the last Hulk movie on TV a few days ago, and was surprised how different that feels to the rest of the franchise.)

Ray Winstone is wonderful, thanks for the heads up! Been an fan since 'Nil by Mouth.' And with Ian MacShane, liked them both in 'Sexy Beast'.  MacShane was wonderful in HBO's 'Deadwood.'

@steelworker, it doesn't get much darker and grittier than 'Nil by Mouth'. Kathy Burke is immense in that movie.

and Sexy Beast! what an absolute belter. Ben kingsly is brilliant and a proper loon.So many great scenes but the standout for me is when he's on the plane having a fag  😃 😃

You don't know Ray Winstone until you've seen Scum, now that is dark and gritty.

A British film I would highly recommend is Dead Mans Shoes, by local (to me) director Shane Meadows. It was filmed about 15 miles away from where I live, very, very fucked up.

….....On another note "wheres your tool, what fucking tool......this fucking tool"... well said Raymond.

If you want some light hearted humour featuring Ray....'Final Cut' and 'Love honour and Obey'.
