They look fantastic! I've been thinking about a Boss as a secondary work boot and yours is close to what I'd build

Thanks! They are great boots, I wish I would've had them when I was required to wear boots to work.
If I had to do the build again, I'd put a 430 sole on instead of the 700. It would make winter less terrifying…

I have the same issue with the 705. The 100 will grip anything though. So I'm interested to see where my current awaited build with the 430 lands

Much better than the 705/700, not as good as the 100. It does OK in ice, but compacted snow can be an issue. In collects under the sole in a way snow doesn't with the 100.

Thanks for the input neph! Slip resistance is a key factor in a work boot for me. The 430 should be good for the normal wear this build will get. It does however sound like I'll be sticking to 100 for work boots

I chose it as a compromise as I wanted an all year boot to get through the winters up here, without the clunky profile of the 100. It's done the job, just about.

I understand that. The winter can be brutal here, but I've managed with the 705 when needed. Work is the only place I can't cheat traction, but little compares to oil on sealed and finished floors

I bought them from Wesco's Seconds page, but they're the same build as the Packers that Division Road sells:

You guys have some sort of script written to crawl that site and alert you when your size is up?  I never seem to see any in my size.  Some awesome finds.

In what way are those boots seconds? They look incredible… Going to check the site regularly from now but with the UK taxes & shipping cost, the boots aren't that cheap unfortunately..

If you see a retailer announce a special build that you like, start checking the Seconds page at Wesco.  Inevitably, a few will fail to meet Wesco's high standards and you'll have a shot at getting a cool build at a reduced rate.

Or, you could just check every couple of days.  It's the only way to be sure.

@EJS  The back of the heel wasn't lasted perfectly, so there are some very minor bumps in the leather, where it was tucked-in between the insole and midsole.  It's so minor that they'd probably qualify as firsts to other bootmakers.
