Digging the taper @Seul, looks good.

Damn, @adam313 you Sir are a true Artist!
Curious: no cuffs, with the original hem length to achieve those stacks?

Hey thank you, @Dishelveled! that's awfully nice of you to say.

I had these hemmed to 33", and they then shrunk to around 32" after a few hot soaks. All creased up now (and not straightened out to measure), they measure 30.5", which is just about my dress pant inseam (~30").

In IH denim, I generally want 32" after shrinkage to account for the creases I get. The exceptions to that are the XHS which I hemmed to 33", and the 814's, which I hemmed to 32". But I absolutely wish I would've gone for 30.5-31" on the 814's because the cut is looser and the fabric is not as thick so I have extra length that gets bunched up at the bottom.

          Thanks for detailed response @adam313

About two inches above the dress inseam to account for accordion folds–This makes total sense; I'm so glad I asked.
I was just winging it with my new 633S-OD but the accordion 'shrinkage' was giving me troubles.

You the man, thanks for opening up your playbook!

2" above dress inseam works for me in the 634 in sizes 28-31. These 634sii are size 29. The cut fits my shape perfectly. If I sized up to 32, I would need to lower that margin to 1" above dress inseam because of the wider leg. There is a bit of personal calculus involved based on the measurements of the jean as you won't get the same amount of back-of-the-knee creases on a looser fit, which is what eats up that extra length (for me), but the stacks on other cuts with narrower leg openings might eat up some considerable length as well…..it works for me, but everyone's body is different and the cuts are different so I can't guarantee the method will work for everyone, especially in the larger sizes.

But here is a description I gave for my stack method about a year and a half ago. I pull them up to my knee when wet and do some crouches and sit like a baseball catcher for a bit and then pull them down.

            @adam313:

The way they drape today is not how they will drape next month.  What I do to get the creases going so that they form to my body is to pull them up from the bottom towards my knee so that I can start to crease them. I scrunch them up real close together and then let them back down.  Here's a pic (excuse the socks, I'm in the studio workin):

This way at least they will have some shape to them so that they aren't just a straight cylinder from the knee down. As the stacks form the denim softens and looks more natural and effortless…

So cool of you @adam313 (runs to change into the ODs and gets into a deep catcher's squat!)

              Thank you very much 🙂

All these were hemmed to either 32" or hemmed to a length that would shrink to 32" before wear  ;D. Some have obviously been worn more than others so the two pairs on the far right are closest to my real dress inseam (~30ish"). And also why the 634s-b looks as long as the 814. Once I get some wear on them they will crease up to resemble the other two pairs to the right of 'em… The 814 are just too long for me given the cut/fabric weight, they actually have more wear days than any pair in this pic, they are just too loose/light (size 30) to crease up like the heavier denim, but they are great kitchen gear...

I am surprised that there aren't more pics of more pairs in here. I feel bad posting pics on top of pics. But the jeans are aging marvelously.

Since this took a year, I predict they'll be looking awesome in about 2022…

The fit is exactly how I would like them to fit post soak. My concern is that they won't fit me post soak because they are a snug fit. Which is how I want them be but I worry that post soak I won't be able to get them back on. Advice please? Thanks

If you like the fit pre soak, just wash or soak in cold water and hang dry. Minimal to no shrinkage that way.

While this will work short term you'll probably have to wash hot one day (baby, sweat, messy eating[emoji1]).

Sounds to me like you'll be fine. If it's the waist and butt that are snug, then these will stretch as much as they need to. Thigh's will loosen. These stretch after a soak to and often past, pre soak measurements. So they may be tight after the wash, but I don't think they will be after you wear them two or three times. Size up and you risk a poor, baggy fit after stretch.

I'd do a 40C wash on low spin to get rid og shrinkage and wear the shit out of them if I was you.
