      A couple of questions on fit and sizing if you don't mind! I want to order this but am stuck deciding if an XL or XXL will fit best. I have wide shoulders but a relatively shorter torso and am trying to fit this vest snug (but not restrictive) while also making sure the length is such that you can still see at least some of a belt buckle at the bottom.

      My general impression is that vest fitting is even more dependent on body types and personal preference than jean fits. My problem with the IHV-02's is that the best fitting chest sizes are often a little short for my liking. A bit of belt at the front is fine, too much and there's a lot of shirt/t-shirt showing at the back which can look great if you're a small, skinny guy but not on those of who are chunkier.

      Please note that I wear my IHV-02's exclusively over t-shirts or Henleys. If you're considering wearing over heavier shirts then my experience isn't relevant. I don't own the 156 (I own other UFH's), but own both vests and have owned different versions of them in my quest for the best fit. I also have the sample of the Herringbone double indigo IHV-02. I'm 180cm and 94kg and wear mostly XL in shirts, with the occasional XXL in the mix if they come up small. My perfect p2p in an IH shirt is 58-59cm. My perfect IHV-02 measurements would be near to a 53cm chest and 64cm front length, but I've only come to that conclusion from buying and trying. So the ideal vest would combine the typical shoulder and chest measurements of an L with the length of an XL. As with @Cutlasshound I tend to err on the side of caution as a touch too big gets more use than a touch too small. These will shrink a little with a hot wash too. Here's how mine stack up:

      BLK: XXL - modified (see earlier in this thread). Fits ok across the chest but is a little long.

      IND: XL - a little big all round, 56cm chest and 65cm front length. Hasn't been hot-washed yet so I'm anticipating a better fit when I get round to it.

      HII sample vest: L - the best fitting IHV-02 I own. 54.5cm chest, 65cm length. Better fitting shoulders than the other two for my tastes.

      One method of finding out how vests are going to fit that has worked for me, is to find a close fitting tee shirt and measure the p2p then add 2-3cm. That should be a good vest p2p. Then put the tee on, mark the ideal length for your vest (where the pointy bit will end) on your tee and measure from that point to the shoulder seam, by the collar that's a decent indicator of the front length you want. Remember, your best p2p on a vest is going to be smaller than your best p2p on a shirt as the armholes are much bigger on vests.

      Good luck!

      @Graeme:

      @Manticore I didn't get one in the end, so I can't comment.

      Neph and Cutlasshound are vest-whores, so they're bound to have them. 😃

      True story, mate 😃

          Actually, seeing as this is your first IHV-02, this is a very good idea. Also this is surely the major reason why credit cards were invented.

            Well I ordered the XXL late last night (originally fat-fingered in an XL but I changed it). Guess I should have just ordered both. Regardless it will be here Monday so I will know soon enough if an exchange is warranted.

            I appreciate the feedback Neph93!

                The XXL fits across the shoulders but the P2P, arm hole, and length are all a little too big. I just ordered the XL so once it gets here I'll compare fits. I should have just ordered both the first time… 🙂

                  Like I said, vests are tricky. I've taken fit pics and asked for feedback before. Check the "vest whores" thread.

                    Well the XL fits much better than XXL, less fabric around the waist and just the right length. Time to initiate a return…

                    Thanks for all the advice everyone!

                        I wore the vest along with the IHSH-21-blk and IH-816-BW at an event at a friend's bar - a reincarnation of a 1920s speakeasy. The ensemble fit in well with the vibe and garnered many compliments.

                              Excellent work, mate! Looks very sharp indeed. I don't wear my vests with shirts, but that pic makes me think I need to up my chambray game.

                              On another note I've lost about 12kg over the last year and both my IHV-02BLK and IND (which were already a bit long) started to be a bit wide in the body. It was at the point where I was considering selling both and sizing down which I didn't fancy. So I nuked them both with a 90C wash on full spin (after an initial soak to deter marbling). It worked amazingly well. Lost <1" in length and <.5" in the body. They fit much better now and the vests suffered no detrimental effects other than the IND losing some of it's indigo and both vests developing some mad roping at the hem and arm holes, which looks badass.

                                  I'm going for that retro Village People look 🤠

                                  We maybe seperated by a common language here but I generally only wear tee's or henley's under my vests as opposed to shirts with collars and buttons [emoji28]

                                      Measures:

                                      Length Front (top of shoulder to peak): 25
                                      Length back (top of shoulder to base): 23.75
