I have just organised a trip for Yellowfin Tuna in Feb 2018 in Ascension Island.  Only way to get there is RAF shuttle that leaves twice a week from Brize Norton airfield in UK.

@Chris we're actually not allowed to cook/eat anything caught while onboard…

@Giles Luckily, we've got dedicated welders/fabricators on staff so they made us some pretty gnarly gaffs that we lower down on rope to gaff the tuna. It sounds easier said than done as it's roughly 40' down to the water from the deck. The ship record for yellowfin stands right now at 147 lb. We weren't able to weigh mine because the scale went missing. Hope you enjoy your trip! Keep us posted!

Perch fishing in Malmö has been great this January and February. Can hardly remember the last time I caught a small one.. From earlier today. Pretty fucking cold though!

@neph93 I think it's a "Cuckoo wrasse". Funny name in english haha, called "blågylta" in swedish. A female at that, the males are usually blue.

Called a tangwrasse in Norwegian I've now discovered. I'm staying on the south west coast, not far from Ålesund, and they're new to me. They don't do well further north.

I thought it was a Shore Rockling, but actually, it is what we (in more civilised countries) call a Cuckoo Wrasse:

I looked up Rocklings and concluded that mine must have been a Nordic Rockling and that wrasse was a Scandi name, but OK. Tang means seaweed in Norwegian. Interestingly mine was 30cm so a relatively large specimen. I'm planning on some late fishing in an hour or two if the kids stay asleep…
