Scandi beer punning at it's best/worst, I give you "Smells Like Bean Spirit" by Cervisiam (Norway's mad beer professor). It's an Impy Brown Ale with coffee and lactic acid. Bloody marvellous.

Had a few of the new Stone Rippers last night, solid juicy IPA. Would drink again.

Juicy, sweet grape at first, long, dry oak/ tanin finish. For wine lovers. I like it a lot.

Haven't seen that one around here, gotta keep my eye out. Always love trying new Bruery beers.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen it around here, either.  I got that bottle in Las Vegas, when we were visiting Julie's parents.  One of the best things about going to Vegas is finding beer that's unavailable at home.

Another Cervisiam this time brewed at Dugge's in Sweden. Not as out there as the Brown Ale but still delish. Has the same low carbonisation and oily mouth feel as some De Molen's impy stouts.

A decent beer hall has opened in my little northern town, lots of money invested and a pretty good bottle menu (the draft menu needs developing though). Went there with the wife this afternoon, drank two favourites for double the money I'd pay at the monopoly… but that's Norway for you. The sausages were bloody great.

Glad you liked it.  They just sold themselves to InBev, so you may be able to buy it locally soon.

I should add it's 6€/ big bottle for the Oud beersel, and 2 for the Export stout… The geuze was stored in a box, horizontally, so can't try it right away, unfortunately... But will do so this weekend...

Do beer shops in Belgium seriously make the mistake of storing beer horizontally?!

In this case, and with most geuzes, the boxes come in from the brewery that way… I think all geuze breweries here do store their bottles flat...

                                        Eg. Cantillon:

I of course don't take bottles from the shelves… Too much light and heat... I always try and score the bottles from unopened boxes/ covered cases/... on the floor.

Huh… go figure. I guess with geuze it's not such a big deal as with the bottle formented, over yeasted stuff when you want the sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Still would have imagined that it's a recipe for disaster when it comes to the stuff with high carbonisation.
