WAKE UP AND COFFEE
-
I've been looking at the kalita wave, just for one cup also. Then I got told they were a lot of work as you have to keep pouring the water every 30 seconds or so. Going to look into it a bit more tonight.

You dont have to pour every 30 seconds. I am lazy, I pour very slow so I just have to pour once, but slow

Love pour over coffee–the hands on approach makes you an active participant in the end cup (Pour speed combined with grind rate, etc...)
I enjoy using Hario's V60--size 02
Slate coffee uses both the Wave and the V60 for in house pour overs (different baristos have personal preferences and some use one maker's rig for certain varietals and their competitors for others.
I'm in the market for a French Press (family size) any recommendations? The idea of an insulated carafe sounded appealing

Nice set up! I've never tasted Cemex brewed coffee (Seattle coffee works uses one at their "slow bar"). I am in need of a real scale (use a mini mart special to weigh the beans) to better control the flow rate.
Love intelligencia's stuff. So many great roasters out their!

I'm a big fan of Chemex, been using for way over 20 years. I make iced pour over with it. Fill the Chemex halfway with ice,and brew as You normally would. The combination of the melted ice and the water poured over the coffee gives you,in my opinion, the best iced coffee you'll ever have. I drink it all year long. Use a Bonavita kettle to keep my poured water at a constant 200 degrees.

How many grams of water to coffee do you use? I usually do about 350 mL/25g in my Chemex but havent tried it with ice. I just might tomorrow though [emoji1]

I've also had the same coffee scoop forever and through trial and error I've found that 13 scoops of coffee works perfectly with my Virtuoso grinder set to 16. I use the 10 cup Chemex, about 50oz of water. My brother in law,who is a total coffee geek, keeps bugging me to weigh how much 13 scoops of beans weigh because if I ever loose the scoop I'm fucked. In reality I can also eyeball how much coffee is in the filter and know if the coffee is going to be too weak or strong. Sorry if I wasn't much help.
