I sampled a black version of this jacket with a collar and pockets for a retailer a while back.  The retailer wanted exclusivity and then decided he could not go ahead with the project (the Yen strengthened so much against the USD, EUR and GBP between project inception and getting the sample, he decided he could not move forward).  So I put the whole thing on hold.

Then someone mentioned brown, and I was all over that like a rash.  H has sourced the horsehide and we're proceeding…..

    I'm going with No 1:

Sizing should be same as "vanilla" IHJ-35

The brown leather looks great from what I can tell.
I just flipped through this thread again and it looks like there was a 46 made, but I don't see it in the shop or size chart. Probably would need either a 44 or 46.
Glad to see that it'll have the pockets. Would be great with a nice flannel lining too…
Would the addition of the collar still mean that the jacket would have both chest pockets? Not sure if I have seen a jacket like that, usually the double chest zip is on band collar leather jacket. That being said I'm no leather jacket expert.
Could be shaping up to be my ideal leather jacket. 😎

There was indeed a 46 made.  I've just checked with H that we can make a 46 in the brown collared version…Will still have both chest pockets. Flannel lining - possibly......

That would be even better, but understand the limitations.

                No we won't.

                1. That is not what we sampled and I am not going to delay release of this jacket whilst we run another sample.  Nor do I want to blow another USD2K on another sample
                2. If a single back piece is what Haraki had wanted to do, then that is what we would have….

A 46 would be awesome for some extra arm and body length for us tall guys. This is exciting stuff. I haven't owned a leather jacket in years, but something like this is tempting enough to get me back in the game!

You won’t be satisfied until you wear Iron Heart.

                    Dreams do come true 🙂

I actually vote (not that anyone asked lol) against flannel lining and think a cafe racer should be a year round jacket with a sateen lining or something light but durable.  That's just me though, and I'm prob in the minority  haha

Will the collared jacket have side pockets?

The lining won't really be a deal breaker for me, I was thinking flannel just from a look perspective more so than a warmth perspective. Now that I think about it a lighter weight lining would mean I could probably wear the jacket more here, which is a good thing.
As long as it's not some really bold and crazy color I'm happy with any lining Haraki san thinks is suitable.

Well after re-reading this thread about a dozen times and drooling over @Joule 's pictures I finally succumbed and ordered the SE version. Now I have a few days to try and fabricate an explanation that the wife will accept…

Unfortunately I believe I already used that as an excuse last month.

Explanation sorted. Flimsy but I hope it holds. Scheduled delivery is tomorrow (Monday) so hopefully my week will be off to a flying start assuming no hiccups.

I noticed that the photos of the SE version show a YKK main zipper (http://www.selfedge.com/image/cache/catalog/IH_BLK_LEATHER_08-1022x682.jpg) but the product description mirrors the IH version with Waldes zippers. Was there a change made during the build?

@Giles : Question on the upcoming brown version… you mentioned hand-warmer pockets - will the side zips remain also or will those go away as a result (ala the SE design)?

SE wanted a zipper that zipped US style (puller on RHS) not Japanese style (puller on LHS).  Maybe Waldes don't make a zipper with the puller on the right hand side.
