I want to do a 717 in black.  It was not on the SS17 schedule (though a new beige version is).  I have agreed with H, that I will ask retailers if they want the black version when I ask for their SS17 orders.  If I get enough orders, we will go ahead.  After initialling turning his nose up at the idea, H says that we may take a few too…..

Will they be a new black chino fabric or simply dunk them in OD?

Not sure the chino fabric could even stand the hot dye…

We have woven the new cotton selvedge chino fabric with polyester threads for the selvedge ID.  The fabric itself is woven in a slightly off white colour.  We can then use this base fabric and dye it any colour we want, whilst retaining the selvedge ID.

We just dyed the base fabric khaki.

To make the black ones, we will just dye the base fabric black

I have not seen it yet, maybe it's a FW17 candidate.  But as an FYI, H and I agreed in Japan in October that in the SS and FW17 collections, we released far too much variety.  Expect smaller seasonal collections going forward…

@Giles will these be a non-fading black similar to the superblack denim? If so, this just made my day. I can't find a pair of black chinos that don't fade to some shitty purplish-brown color with a few months' wear.

Unfortunately what you, me and Haraki think will be an instant classic, often isn't - this is a fickle game….I have been been being asked by customers for years to make a B-10, so we've made one and I think it really is an amazing jacket, it's pure functional beauty.  How may have we sold?  You got it - feckin none.
